Hi guys I have had my aorus x3 v3 now for a few days let me tell you the thing is a little gem first impressions when I received my box I thought this is small I have had macbook pros 13 macbook air 13 inch and 11 as well as some gaming laptop one of them is the msi gs60 it beats all of them in looks and power I'm still amazed how much power is in this thing and I can justify the cost for this reason and specs when I first opened the lid it made a little creaking sound but nothing to bad I like to baby my gadgets so this freaked me out a little but I was okay after a lot of people do have this problem you get used to it and it doesn't bother me now I had a slight problem with installing software and drivers so I used the built in recovery and it seems okay now I also put a 250gb Sam evo 840 in the 3rd msata port for itunes library and photos I don't tend to store movies on my devices as I have movie streaming on Netflix xbmc etc now performance this thing is fantastic I ran prime 95 furmark stress test cpu never went over 90s gpu stayed below 76c I then underlocked and undervolted and installed the free game dying light it ran about 74c gpu and the cpu never ran over 80s c all settings high 55 fps dint notice throttling so it was a good idea by gigabyte to put a less power full cpu than last gen and the 900 series cards run cooler I will post more info soon

I forgot things to remember when you update wife driver use the intel latest drive it working well for my at full speed and I still haven't got msi after burner to work correctly gpu seems fine tho I will post some comparison photos with msi and aorus x3 later

thats cool. im glad you added dying light fps at msi was lookin at a review and seeing what was comparable. but yes its where i thought it was with ethe desktop. around the 960 gtx, 680 gtx, 760 gtx, r9 280, 7970. and thats pretty good considering the level of card they are.

@daza100 can you see if you can record footage with ShadowPlay? It seems to be broken on the 970m and NVIDIA aren't doing anything about it.

Dude punctuation please. What size can you compare it to Apple wise? I'm now debating between this and the p35x. Trying to decide if there really will be a size difference that matters to me. Hard to compare when I can't physically compare.

Hi not much in it really the Aorus x3 v3 is about the same length just a bit thicker than the macbook pro 13. About the same weight I have since sold my mbp 13 i still have my mba 11 though.

Hi daza100, I've read many posts of yours regarding the Aorus x3 plus v3, and having one myself, I wanted to reach out to ask a couple of questions.
    > Can you please let me know how you undervolt the CPU and GPU? Was it made through software or bios modification?
    > Also, I was reading on another thread that you repasted your Aorus x3 plus v3, how easy was it?
    > Lastly, did you overclock the 970m? If so, with what software? Indeed, I don't seem to be able to overclock it with MSI Afterburner as it always goes back to +0 when I try to O/C.

    Thanks!

hi juanbastos thanks for the post

    1. I undervolted with intel extreme utility i just disabled turbo boost.
    2. Yes it was very easy just like a desktop cpu re-paste just take your time.
    3. No i have not overclocked my gpu yet iam having some trouble with msi after burner it's not reading my card properly i might try evga soon.

And lastly i havnt seen the temps go paste 81c on both cpu and gpu full
load. Witch is good for this laptop size and thinness the last Arous v2 with the 870m and 4860hq was about 91c respectively witch is nice.

You know which driver that is. My v3 is coming in the mail and the stock wifi is a concern of mine.

Just use Auto driver checker in intel utility it will find the correct one and it will be fine.

Does your wifi work ok, or does it drop connection constantly like both my and my GF's X3 V3 does?

Since the previous x3 (which i am using currently), msi afterburner and evga are unable to save the settings for the overclock. The settings have to be done through vBios. Unless there is a work around to unlock the settings.

Agreed fully that the first X3 came with the 4860HQ is overkill since the iris 5200 is almost redundant and i have not once fully maxxed it as id rather use the gtx870m instead.
