Looks like a good deal on this X7 V6

Newegg selling one for $2k. Looks like an amazing deal for this laptop (despite the weird keyboard complaints). What do you guys think?

Always planned to get a Aorus and I was reeeeeally planning to buy the 1440 screen version (also a good deal there), but knowing me, the horizontal striping issue is all I'll ever see. Plus I do a lot of photo editing.

I'm on the fence because 1080p is kind of low at this point. With that graphics card, it should be 1440. Any personal experiences with Aorus 1080p screens? Are they worth it? Would playing older games on a 1440 screen be a pain in the arse?

    Thank you

Old games on a 1440p screen at that size is virtually impossible without a magnifying glass.

Do they not emulate 1080p so to speak?

Even 1080p is extremely tiny. Those games were usually designed with 1280x1024 in mind

So would you recommend this 1080p unit if I play an occasional older game or is 1440 leap worth it at this point to have somewhat of a future proof machine (in that case, it won't be an Aorus because of the striping issue)?

1440 - less battery life, worse scaling and potential issues with older software, no real noticeable difference at 17"
1080 - just better for the size (in my opinion)

Also, make sure the screen is IPS. A TN panel in 2017 is a rip-off imo.

    Thanks for your help.

"no real noticeable difference at 17" I'm surprised to hear this. What about 120hz feature. Is that worth it?

From what I can tell, other than the screen question, this machine will handle everything I throw at it in the near future. Would you agree?
