I am trying to install 2x 16gb Corsair Vengence modules into the Aero 15 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G26166W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The tech at the computer repair shop says it will only boot when one 16gb module is installed. It won’t boot when 2 16gb modules are installed. Any ideas???

Did they´ve replaced with other modules? (than the two they wont work)?
In theory after memory upgrade it will take couple of seconds (lets say 30) for the system to recognize and boot then, same for almost every notebook.
Did you´ve tried to update BIOS to the latest version (by using one module if that works)?

I have done this and have failed miserably...
While my laptop is the Aero 14 one, I guess it applies to the Aero 15 as well.
My device was shipped with a single Kingston DDR4-2400 16GB (CBD24D4S7D8MB-16).
I had previously bought 2x G.Skill RipJaws DDR4-2400 and decided to put them to good use.
Ever since then, the laptop would randomly freeze when loading the GPU - e.g. simply rendering a picture in DxO PhotoLabs would result in a permanent freeze that could only be resolved by a hard reset.
When running the Microsoft Memory Diagnostics (part of Windows 10) in Extended mode, the laptop would freeze at ~21% - pointing to neither a driver nor a Windows defect...
After some back and forth I found out that OCCT in its power supply-test is able to consistently cause the system to freeze.
While the system would recover after a few seconds after the freeze when only one bar was installed (regardless of slot), it would lock up and have to be forcefully reset when two bars are installed.
Funnily enough, both bars are working 100% in two different laptops and are only causing trouble in my Aero 14.
(This is with the latest Bios, version FB09)
What really made me cringe: the laptop would sometimes crash and display loads of visual artifacts.
At first I thought those to be a sign of a dying GPU, but now I think that they might actually be caused by the ram.
I'll get back to you once I've tested the ram that this laptop was originally shipped with ;-)
But so far, I can only advise against buying ram and stuffing it into your Aero 14... -
Sounds like it could be either faulty RAM or faulty power delivery to the RAM (the latter should occur with any 2 sticks of DDR4 memory). I will say I installed 4x16GB DDR4 sticks from G.Skill in my x5 and had intermittent freezes which were caused by 2 faulty sectors in one of the 4 sticks (MemTest86 found the culprit; I would stay away from windows memory diagnostic tool). After getting newegg to send a new batch, and this time first testing it with memtest to confirm no bad sectors, everything has been rock solid.

Seeing that neither of those modules has given me any headache in different laptops (prolonged, almost daily use over ~ 12 months) I'd rather stick with the Aero not liking those specific modules.
Tomorrow, I'll install the old module again and do some tests - while I have never actually experienced incompatibility towards ram modules before this device, I have read about it and always regarded it as some kind of tech-myth...
We'll see ;-)
UPDATE:
Lo and behold: after changing the ram, my Aero 14 is runnign smoothly again
At the moment, I have installed the stock 16GB module alongside an 8GB module and there are neither crashes nor graphical bugs nor anything else that I'd consider worrisome.
The 32GB of ram are now sitting in a different laptop and seem to function just fine as well.
What I take away from this whole oreal is that ram might not be 100% compatible with the device even though it should be.
While the G-Skill modules are DDR4-2400 they obviously don't function correctly inside this device and have caused strange bugs, including:
- hard freezes / crashes when browsing
- freezes when using OCCT in its power supply test (freezes of ~10 seconds with one module installed, permanent freezes with two modules installed - the freezes occured within 2 minutes after starting the power supply test!)
- freezes when playing games
- visual artifacts (green dots) in dark parts of images inside ChromeLast edited: Nov 1, 2017 -

Has anyone been able to find another 16gb stock stick? I've searched ebay and haven't come up with anything.
Has anyone successfully upgraded the aero15 to 32gb? I have run into some issues.
