Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you brick your machine. Please do this at your own risk

My GIGABYTE AERO 15 YC OLED which has a GeForce RTX 3080 came with nVIDIA's Resizable BAR disabled despite GIGABYTE mentioning this as a feature on their website.

I contacted them about this and they informed me that there is indeed a VBIOS update to enable Resizable BAR however they will not send it to me and require me to RMA the laptop back to them which is not possible for me as I live on the other side of the world and I use this laptop every day for work.

As I was doing HIDevolution's Tuning & Optimization Tweaks on one of our customer's laptop who happened to have the same exact model as I do but from a newer badge apparently. I checked the nVIDIA Control Panel System Information and was surprised to see that Resizable BAR was enabled on his laptop. So I used GPU-Z to save his VBIOS and flashed it on my laptop, rebooted and BAAM! Resizable BAR was enabled!

If I am able to get the VBIOS for the RTX 3070 with Resizable BAR I will share it with you as well. The RTX 3060 already has it enabled.
    =====================================
    1) Download the GIGABYTE RTX 3080 VBIOS v94.04.3D.007B

Make sure to right click on the file(s) you just downloaded, go to Properties, then hit Unblock from the bottom right as it may be blocked since it was downloaded from the internet, if you don't do this before you run the file or extract it, then it may not install correctly.

To prevent this automatic blocking of files in the future so you don't have to go unblocking every file you download to ensure it runs properly, follow the guide in this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/are-you-sure-you-want-to-run-this-file-yes-or-no.825668/

    2) Unzip the file and copy the VBIOS folder to the root of D: or if you don't have a D: Partition just copy it the root of C:

    3) Click Start > Windows System > Right click on Command Prompt > Run as Admin

    4) type d: then hit enter to go to the root of the D: Partition

    5) copy/paste the below command then hit enter:

    nvflash -il -6 GA104.rom

    6) Answer Y when prompted to proceed with the flash then hit Enter

    7) Reboot when prompted.

Resizable BAR should now be enabled and you get the same 105W TGP as the original RTX 3080 VBIOS from GIGABYTE that was installed before.

I would be grateful if you had someone with Aorus 15P XC with RTX 3070 130w.

I asked people on reddit what they had Aorus 15P but somehow they can't answer...

I guess I have to send my laptop for RMA. My service informed me they have vbios but they can't seend it to me... they promised to send my laptop back the same day

I'll asks our production team when they are building one for a customer to check if the VBIOS has Resizable BAR enabled, I'll hook you up.

I will try to get it for the team (rtx3070). Thinking about sending in my laptop to be able to make a backup of the new VBIOS and upload it here.
Since Gigabyte support let's us down, customers need to stick together!

Please share the VBIOS when you can. I couldn't get it from our production team yet as we don't have any orders for this laptop yet.

Hi Seba, Would the 130 watt bios work with the aero 15 too? I'm pretty sure the max is 105 of the box, so that would be really cool.

@up Yes it will work but remember that you have different cooling 15p is 4mm thicker than the Aero and G series. In my laptop temperature of the gpu is around 75C during the game with cooling pad (without cooling pad i got 80C). So if you flash vbios 130w to your laptop you will have much higher temperatures. Tjmax for gpu series rtx 3000 is 86C.

    Aorus 15P:

    You see difference?

@up Very interesting. I've not noticed my card getting too hot believe it or not (max around 75), even though i've got an overclock on it right now. I also have it on a cooling pad, so i think there is a chance i can crank the fans and get the extra wattage going.

My cpu however gets to the 90s on occasion, which heats up the whole cooling system. If i could undervolt the cpu (with unlocked bios in the future when my warranty ends :D) and crank up the gpu with that vbios, it might be a way to squeeze a bit more juice out of the machine in games. either way, even if it does thermal throttle a bit, i would really just like to have resizable bar and advanced optimus.

@twicken i will try to get the rtx3070 vbios for 105w

rma has not replied yet, though.
rma support has very bad ratings in germany, hopefully they are as quick as poland though

@hongkongphooey99 should be compatible with my aero 15 oled xc VBIOS. But check below if your current VBIOS matches with mine
    94.04.3D.00.3A (no resizable bar)

and just in case any flashing gone wrong, I'm leaving this here: backup of my current VBIOS WITHOUT resizable-bar enabled

check nVIDIA Control Panel System Information you can see the device id, vbios version and resizable bar enabled/disabled here
but as far as i can see, it's a slightly different vbios than mine, but device ID matches.
I'm quite sure that mine should work with yours as well, but I'm no expert here.

no, I don't think so. I believe he ment that gpu-z only shows enabled when you have switched to mux already, that's why nvidia system info is more accurate.
but if you're trying the vbios succesfully, I would use it as well.
I'm currently stuck at RMA and very annoyed by their "support"

hey seba i got your pm for some reason i cant respond. but here are instructions for xmp unlock overclocking and realtime memory timings, dont mess with the timings, and set the profile to XMP if you have XMP memory, if not it will automatically run the highest profile. Also has there been any updates on an aorus 15G XC 3070 resize bar bios?

@Unfortunately I don't have ram with XMP. I thought you had some manual settings for memory. I know this about the XMP profile.

For vbios You can try flash from clevo if you have same Device Id: 10DE 249D

glad you could restore it. sooner or later someone will provide the correct vbios from gigabyte, hopefully.

at least we have one more information for fellow owners.

the vbios works for aero 15 oled xc but not for the aorus equivalent and it might be troublesome for aero 15xc fhd version as well

but i believe someone, maybe @Spartan@HIDevolution installed a third party one and got lower wattage reported afterwards.

Hi all, Thank you for finding that bios for the 3070. I will attempt the flashing soon too, as i have the XC oled version. One question though. What's going on with advanced optimus? will that bios enable it? I'm interested in this feature because i intend to get a TB3 dock to drive 2 external monitors with Gsync. As far as i understand, you can only obtain Gysnc through the TB3 port with advanced optimus?

Thanks. If someone has access to a TB3 dock, i'd be interested to know if the nvidia card will go through TB and support gsync without advanced optimus. I mean advanced optimus was also a listed feature as well as resizable bar, so i still don't think this is acceptable.
