Not at this time, although it will be sometime after the initial release.

I wonder if the GTX1060 will be underpowered somehow in this machine, the 150W power adapter seems to be a bit on the low side compared to others. Otherwise it looks amazing.

This is pretty interesting.. especially having tried and returned the XPS 15. I almost kept it over my Aero 14 I have simply because I find the 14" screen a little small when gaming. The 1060 being able to drive games @ Aero's 1440p res with higher frames than the XPS 15's 1050 could @ 1080p was surprising though. Another thing about the Aero 14 is the screen was noticeably faster and therefore didn't have the same ghosting issue that can be observed on the XPS 15 panel. Therefore I was a little concerned at this point of the video:
when they suggest the screen on the Aero 15 is the same as the one from the XPS 15. The XPS 15 FHD is a great looking screen, colour wise, I just really hope it is a newer or different version panel with improved latency. I also hope the keyboard feedback is a little less stiff than the Aero 14, since I find it slows my typing speed a little bit (down to around 115 from 130 wpm)
Either way, I always said I wished gigabyte made a 15" version of the Aero, so I'm definitely going to have to try one out when it becomes available in Canada.Last edited: May 1, 2017scrod likes this. -
Interesting observation.. that's the same wattage of the Aero 14's power adapter, so with the same components you'd think it would have a similar experience. That being said, I have rarely seen the Aero 14 throttle in gaming with temps definitely not being the cause, so I wonder if the available power can be a problem..Vistar Shook likes this.

I didn´t realize it was the same 150w adapter as on the Aero 14, so since the 14 performs fine this new one will be fine....looks awesome.

Thanks- I'm very encouraged if it is indeed the same matte Sharp IGZO panel used in the XPS 15. It's a very bright display with good color and contrast. Plus it sounds like it comes with some sort of calibration certification. Response times were not very good, as you mention, but with HDMI and displayport and TB3, it's easy enough to run an external fast gaming monitor, with or without eGPU. Having the IGZO and not an inferior AUO display might give it the edge over a GS63VR or Blade for my purchase in the next week or two. Good timing for this new release, I hope it's in stock when I pull the trigger.Eason likes this.

Also wondering what the countdown has to do with the Aero 15, Newegg already posted their reviews and the laptops are in stock now.

I just signed up to see if i buy this laptop or not.
I found this review, but i dont know if its better or not than an Aero 14 or something similar.
https://www.noticias3d.com/articulo.asp?idarticulo=2413&pag=1 (Is in Spanish btw lol).
Does it worth? -
It looks like they maybe copied some Aero 14 information. I'm surprised they are not touting the IGZO display in the specs, for example.

Me, too, @ThePerfectStorm, and also from HID as @Donald@HIDevolution has been endlessly patient with me and answering all my banal PMs asking about this that and the other!
I see we seem to have similar needs from our laptop

Seems like there are two slots for storage according to the Spanish Aero 15 review.
"The equipment is completed with 16 GB of RAM at 2,400 MHz (has two slots), and can be installed up to 32 GB. The storage is carried out by an M.2 drive per PCIe (in this case 256 GB), and we can install 2 units of this type, and also with SATA interface 6 Gbps. Of course, we will have Wi-Fi (Intel chip, 802.11ac with support MU-MIMO) in addition to Bluetooth 4.2 + LE." -

I noticed this too on the gigabyte site, hopefully it will indeed have two slots. -

Yeah, we know each other from the GS63VR 1070 thread
I hope the Aero 15 delivers thermally. I'm waiting for
@Eason 's review and will then decide.
I hope we get 2 M.2 slots, one for NVMe boot drive and one for SATA storage drive.

Thanks! Currently deciding between the Razer blade and this. Leaning heavily towards aero because of the dual drive bays(maybe?). Currently about to return my aero 14 and it just doesn't have the premium feel of the Razer at all..

Can't wait...
Sure thing...I'll be doing a review as well vs the GS63.
I wouldn't go Razer... This isn't the tread to talk about it, but feel free to PM me to get all the info as to why not to buy razer.scrod and Vistar Shook like this. -

if you don't like the build of aero 14, it would be hard to like the aero 15, even from the promo video you can see the poor finish around the ports

Nice review, I was thinking of buying the GS43vr which one you advise to me?

I've got the Blade Pro and XPS 15 (4K) and (FHD) here on my desk so we'll know soon enough.
I have a lot of flight time with the XPS 15 and gaming, so I'll let this be known in my nbr review...
Very true. Most gamers who use headsets and/or benchers are usually the ones that don't mind.
As for everyone else that sits at the coffee shop, library, in class etc... db is a very important factor.
I guess I would rather bust out a bigger laptop in class and play some OW, rather than having a thin laptop with high db's? LOL....
I've also had the AW13, but let it go due to the small screen real estate and the overall chassis size not being able to support in cooling the gtx 1060 effectively to my liking. The temps were dropped dramatically after my repaste etc...but gaming on a 13" screen is a bit....
I'll do some studio shots of both of them in a few days....
Very well could be... I mean given that it is a GTX 1060 vs 1050, not really a fair comparison in the gaming department, however, as a laptop in general, I'm very curious how this will stack up against the XPS 15, which I use daily...
I have a lot of RAM sticks here of different sizes and speeds, so I'll test those and also make those available in my nbr review.
Not sure, but I've grabbed one quick...in route...
I too was hoping they would at least offer a QHD, which is my favorite screen resolution for laptops in general.
I would rather have a 4K as well, especially if it's the sharp panel like on the XPS 15, which is the best panel of that kind in the industry right now...Although I don't run anything at 4K, I still would want that screen and run it at my daily driver resolution at QHD.
I have feeling it will be, but with this form factor, if it can hold clocks consistently, then I'd take that over something that over heats and throttles.
Drum roll....
I'm hoping it is the sharp panel as well, but before I get ahead of myself, I'll first have to see if everything else pans out nicely first...
Hey @ThePerfectStorm, great to see you too. You know I'll be doing my usual.
There's only one way...the right way haha.
So I'll be doing a review and comparison for nbr and with all the other reviews, it'll give one a nice glimpse of how this new Aero is...
Of course, I'll be running it through the nitty gritty tests to get down to the meat and potatoes of things from an enthusiasts perspective.
I have a library of data from the AW13 and GS63, which have 1060 engines, so we'll see how this stacks up.... I'm just a little iffy about that 150w PSU though....
We'll know soon enough.

@iunlock
You should compare the fan noise between the 3 (Blade pro, XPS 4k, Aero 15). I really would like to see how well the Aero fares against the competition.
By the way, I'm not an avid AAA gamer, so I might be picking the OLED 1050Ti 4GB AW13R3. I'm pretty sure such chassis will find the mid range GPU a walk in the park.
Sent from my SM-N900 using TapatalkVistar Shook likes this. -
Absolutely will get some db measurements.
The AW13 is an excellent little laptop and a GTX 1050ti is a perfect fit for that chassis.
.SkidrowSKT likes this. -
That was fast, thanks.
Looks like Dell XPS 15 finally got an alternative. It's slightly thicker and 2 cm deeper, but given the 1060, it's totally worth it, IMHO.
I'm impressed with the noise handling for such a thin laptop. The screen is not the fastest, but TBH most of the screens are like that, if not TN. E.g., Dell XPS 15 has a much slower screen anyway. -
Is it a big bump in the price? I mean, if you're getting the Alienware 13 which is rather big and heavy for that screen size, then it might make sense to make the most of it and get the 1060 which is roughly 50% stronger.
Otherwise, I'd rather consider the more portable XPS 15 or better yet this Aero 15. -
The OLED version with the 1050Ti costs 1900Euros, while the one with the 1060 (other specs are exactly the same) costs 2140... Because my laptop will more or less be directed to CPU intensive work (and very casual gaming, probably once a week), the 1060 might be overkill for me. I'll spend the rest of my budget on a big SSD, a smaller PSU for on-the-go work and more accessories.
Weight is not an issue for me, as I've been using a 15" 2.8kg daily driver for 6 years. A 14" footprint will make a big difference in my bag (and will be more comfortable), and I just can't get over how well the AW13 is built!
Sent from my SM-N900 using Tapatalk -
Well, that's true, its internals remind me of my Dell Precisions.
It's just that with that cooling extension, the laptop is even deeper than the previous models which makes the screen look very small and the bottom bezel looks huge. Not a big issue if it will mostly be used on the desk with an external screen, though.SkidrowSKT likes this. -
Oh I'm well aware of razer stories. If I buy a Razer it will definitely be from Microsoft with their complete warranty. And I know Ms warranty will trump gigabyte warranty
-
Looks like a decent IPS display according to NBC, but not as good as their results for the IGZO used in the FHD 2017 XPS 15 9560. The one in the Aero 15 looks a bit faster than the XPS, but slower than the Razer Blade 14. Or maybe they have multiple suppliers or use different panels in different markets.
Looking forward to your review and Eason's review before making a decision.Last edited: May 2, 2017 -
I'm definitely curious as to how well a good repaste will help with temperatures. It looks like a damn good laptop apart from the temps.Vistar Shook likes this.

Yes, it will fry an egg when you play games for 5 hours straight. It's dead silent and cool when you actually work on it!
Sent from my SM-N900 using TapatalkVistar Shook likes this. -
Looks like just an hour is enough to get the bottom of the laptop nice and toasty according to notebookcheck.
-
temps look pretty similar to any of the thin and light 1060s, like GS63VR or Blade 14. Definitely hotter and louder than the big and heavy 17" gaming rigs with better cooling.

Which would be enough to fry an egg, but this is derailing the convo. Point is, I'm wondering if the repasting the guys are doing is enough to bring it down to less lap burning levels.Eason likes this.

I imagine undervolting should help a bit and repasting a bit more, but yeah a laptop like this will run hotter than it´s thicker counterparts. -
I just quickly compared the battery life between aero 14 and 15 both from NBC. I was expecting the battery life to be better in 15 but it is not
-
Undervolting the CPU will play a big part in getting the temps down. As for repasting, it depends on the paste used. Some pastes ensure the best heat conductivity, but you'll be forced to apply them regularly.

Well, according to the TechRadar tests, it is.
