    Dear Fellow Users,

I'm a newbie here. A few months ago (after a long search) I got (in my opinion) a pretty good combination of power, price, efficiency, sleekness, weight and ergonomics. Namely, Gigabyte U2442S. True, its battery power isn't all that great as it's supposed to stay on for about 4h without being plugged in but I need you advice on how to make sure I can look after the battery in the best possible way.

    A) I use my computer at home most of the time. 95% of usage I'd say. As you can imagine, I hardly ever have to use the battery.
    B) That being said, a normal conclusion would be to charge the battery and take it out... except... it can't be done because the battery is not removable.
    C) I try to drain the battery once in a while but I have no idea how often I should do it and if I should drain it to 0% or just a bit.

I'd be much obliged if you could help me out. I don't even know what type of battery I have but it's a new PC so I guess it must be a lithium-based battery... Dunno.

PS By the way, if anyone has a similar laptop, please let me know how much off-the-charger battery time you can work for.

Can any one offer any advice? What do you guys do to ensure your battery gets proper charge/discharge cycles? How do you look after your notebook's battery?

I think these days batteries do not need to be drained. It won't extend battery life.

From what I have gathered, one of the best things you can do is not keep it plugged in when the battery has fully charged. This will stop it from overcharging and being a potential avenue for problems. Either take the battery out and use it from the mains only or just use the charged battery without it being plugged in to the mains.
