FAN CONTROL WORKING
I got a fan control program working with this laptop. Thought I would share in case anyone else wants to try. Please note it is beta and I take no responsibility if damage is occurred to your laptop.
It currently allows you to set the fan to 3 Levels. OFF, Low speed or Medium/High speed. The fan will stay at these levels without changing.
I did not make the program but made the config file for it by finding out the correct values to use so it could work with this laptop. The program is called NotebookFanControl by Grantig.

Extract the folder then run the .exe file.
You can set the fan speed % by moving slider then press set (after few seconds fan should change), or set up some temps and have it controlled automatically. ( I have set some currently in the program already)
Fan Speed 0% = Fan Switched Off
Fan Speed 50% = Fan low speed.
Fan Speed 100% = Fan Speed Medium/High
Try not to use Fan speed 25% or 75% as it doesn't function correctly. Both of these will turn the fan off also but it is better to use Fan Speed 0%(off). Also program may report strange fan speed readings etc but just ignore.
If Cpu temperature goes to 85C or above the normal bios fan control will start.
When you exit the program it also goes back to normal fan control controlled by bios.
Let me know results.

^^ Now Working

You sir, are a BOSS!!! Works great!!
-
Scratch this post. P.S. would love to see 25% working!

The fan speeds are messed up. I don't think you can actually go lower than the speed at 50% without turning the fan off. This seems to be the lowest speed you can set the fan at.

It's truly surprising how horrible Gigabyte's stock settings are, it makes me think that the programmers set on the U series are incompetent or just don't care. -
Glad its useful.
It can be used to extend the period of time the fan is off. Instead of it normally coming on at stupid times even when the temperatures aren't high.
To be fair the cpu can go all the way up to temperatures of 105C according to intel.
So even with fans off if your temps are below 60C it shouldn't be a problem. -

I had the same problem once. Try this:
Turn off auto, then remove your custom settings, only keep the first one with "BIOS controlled", then make your custom settings again, save it and turn on the auto function again. It should work now. -
While gaming, the temperature can force this utility into "critical mode" (100+) and it seems to suppress the fanspeed below maximum even though it should be "BIOS controlled" to 100%. (When I then shut off the utility, the fanspeed will instantly go back to 100% - this difference is audible) Does increasing the upper-cap for 'BIOS controlled" fix this? Has anyone else observed this behavior - any workarounds for critical mode?
AFAIK it is impossible to increase the upper-limit beyond 100 celsius to avoid 'critical mode'.
This is a minor annoyance, but it means every time I want to play a graphics-intensive game I have to shut off the utility. -
This no longer works with the latest BIOS, can anyone update this?
-
Yea it would be great if someone could figure out how to control the fans correctly with the new BIOs. It works kinda but would like a setting where the fan can be on but quiet...the only ones that work are extremely loud.

Here is the link to the actual program, it's out of beta now it looks like.

There is a guide attached to the latest version, if anyone has the time to follow it they could make a custom profile and gain fan control on the latest BIOS! -

Anyone please reupload NoteBookFanControl-0.14.4.60.beta-U2442Config.zip
