The Sabre 15-W8 is one of the laptops I'm considering at the moment. Has anybody seen one for sale yet?

I'm looking in either the UK, Thailand or India.

In the specs it says, "15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 120Hz 3ms Wide Viewing Angle LCD with NTSC 94% Color Gamut
*Panel specification may differ by country and region. Please contact your local dealers or retailers for the latest product information."

Advertsing a laptop with this panel spec and then saying you might not be able to get one seems a bit off. I know their business is to sell laptops and if the country distributor thinks the good panel won't sell because of price we just get stuck with some inferior panel.

On a closer look, the chassis at least, looks nearly identical to the CLEVO N850EK1 available at PCS uk. TBH i'm seriously considering this over the MSI and Gigabyte now.

It as has a bigger battery than the TongFang GK5CN5Z which I like.

My current laptop is an Optimus V and my previous an Optimus II so a IX would have been a natural choice but I read a disappointing review on Notebookcheck.

If it's this review - https://www.notebookcheck.net/Schenker-XMG-A517-Clevo-N850EP6-Laptop-Review.309744.0.html - it seems that the main issue is with the cheap feel of the chassis. The GPU throttling thing the review complained about was fixable. The MSI GP63 chassis looked pretty bad too. In one of the teardown's I saw, a bit of plastic broke off whilst a technician was trying to remove the base. I wonder which build is worse. The TongFang's build it must be said seems pretty solid by comparison.

I decided against the MSI because of what you say. All the configs I've seen come with a SATA M.2 drive not an NVMe so I would like to be able to change/upgrade but it seems the case wasn't designed for that. The TongFang is great for that and Gigabyte told me you just need to unscrew the base and you can access the M.2/HD/RAM but I haven't seen any video of it being done yet.

I'm really waiting for some reviews of the Gigabyte so that I can decide between it and the TongFang.

How has your experience been with the Optimus models? I understand you wanting a change if you've owned 2 of them and TongFang / Gigabyte seem decent alternatives (though the gigabyte seems overpriced IMO), but my previous laptop is a mid 2009 mac, so anything different is a bonus.

Also, are the Optimus's easy to upgrade? I'd want to be able to do a repaste when it arrives and don't want the hassle of some upside down Mobo or similar.

    The TongFang looks straightforward.

The Optimus V is very easy, 3 screws to remove the back panel, 3 more for the GPU and 4 for the CPU and you can repaste. The WiFi module is under the keyboard which I'm about to replace and it looks quite easy.

As I live split between 3 countires an international warranty is a bonus for me but you're right £1500 is quite high. I just had Box confirm the M.2 drive is NVMe and not SATA.

Hey, sorry for keeping on about the Optimus on this thread, but how's the keyboard on it? The recoil would be ideal...except for the keyboard, which i have to face up to the fact that i'll largely be using it for word processing.

There are still no reviews of the machine. Seems quite odd now that is readily available.
