    I just got Gigabyte P55W v4 with i7-5700HQ and GTX 970M.

I hit a snag with the fan control in Smart Manager, no matter what I do the fan stays the same. Quiet, normal or 100% is the same. Any tips how to change the fan speed? Third party software perhaps?

mine is called command and control so in all honesty that program looks way better.

    I´d rather have it working..
Tried MSI afterburner but the fan slider can´t be changed.

Hi, I opened a ticket with Gigabyte about this as I have the same "issue" with my P34w v3, I posted the communications in the P34 thread and may help you.

Unfortunately Gigabyte are pretty much useless when asked a direct question but what they say is, if the fan is set to 100% it just means that the system will "allow" 100% fan usage should the system need it but will make "smart" adjustments according to temp. It's not a manual fan control.

Thanks for the info, my search didn´t bring up that post.

Good to know it should run at 100% when needed but it would be nice to know what fan table is being used. At what temp does it drop to 80% speed etc.

I fully agree and did ask them but they completely ignored my question so I may go back to them with a carefully worded line of questioning and see if they continue to be evasive. I'll update with whatever I find!

Glad (kinda) to see that it's not just me. I came on here for to see if this problem was just affecting me.

When I first received my laptop it would spool up to high speed where it got loud and I could feel it moving air real nice, but lately it stays quiet and the smartmanager doesn't work for me either. Noticed fps drops since. F'ing annoying.
