I think every P35 has this problem. sounds like the shielding is not great. A lot of gamelaptops have some static noise though if you do not play a sound on your headset. This is simply because there is a lot of interference in such a small laptop.
-
So at first I bought this model because I believed that user (got resolved model) said that recent P35X V5 models are hardware noise solved model. So I bought at same dealer with that user, but mine is not. Noise happen.
So I am very annoying about this, I should decide whether to resist to gigabyte and dealer for return and refund, or just use. Maybe just use is impossible because I normally use this at cafe or library, there I need to use earphone frequently to avoid environment noises. But connecting earphone to this model hears that coil noise...
So I will try today that visiting nearby Sony shop and connecting noise cancelling earphone, [h.ear in NC] from Sony.
If problem does not solved by this method, maybe I should return this... I can't wait 3 months..

I think (as a PhD. in microelectronics) that this can't be solved by a simple driver update. This is a hardware problem with common ground in the notebook. Or somehow they managed to route an audio track right next to GPU power imput
But I still don't believe that they coud miss that or maybe they miss it on purpose.. -
Small size is not an excuse for not designing something properly. If my design buzzed like this, I'd be fired.
But I think I'll give this notebook a chance. I need those 8 Gigs of VRAM for running simulations
...and of course gaming -
But anyway, sony [h.ear in NC] is works! When I connect it, that noise does not hear.
So this is because this earphone's cable's material is high rank and pricy, so I don't know well but can block noise?
But just before I tested with Sony's XBA-1 earphone, which is not cheap though.
[h.ear in NC] make me put another 200$ for buying.
Anyway, I decided to use this laptop because gigabyte promised that after 3 months, they will change mainboard itself and release solved model, and then exchanging my laptop with new model. I recorded representative's voice and will use this as evidence and sue if they don't keep their words. LoL -
-
BTW they said that they will exchange laptop everyone or just you? -
They said they will exchange to all who have same problem.Last edited: Mar 3, 2016 -
Lol. That's a lot of money. I'm still waiting to get mine back from RMA.

Hi folks, new to the thread, but happily writing this on my P35Xv5-SL3, upped to 32 gigs of ram. I'm having a few nagging issues with the wireless AC7260 I had xotic put in (anyone else having wireless shut off after hibernation/reboot and need a shut down for it to kick back on?), but I'm otherwise quite happy with it. I use it for gaming from time to time, but also for large statistical / spatial analysis where the extra umph really helps. I'm an Epidemiology PhD student.
A question: I forgot to get an extra brand name AC brick - I like to keep one in my travel bag and one in my docked, multi-monitor standing desk set up at all times. I got a direct quote for a brand name ADP-200FB D adapter that was around $200 bucks (eek?) from the xotic folks going back to gigabyte, but I haven't had much luck looking around online. Anyone else have any 3rd party manufacturers they like? Anyone got a second adapter they trust? I hear these things crap out from time to time, though I've rarely had issues with adapters dying.
Best wishes, fellow users!

About power brick: Technicaly you can buy cheaper, less powerful one as far it has same output voltage ...if Gigabite didn't use some kind of bus to talk to the charger to check if its genuine or not. Obviously you will not be able to game on that charger but I use this solution for my current HP. I have small aftermarket power supply in my bag. It's powerful enough to run computer during normal tasks, but it can't handle gaming. (As an electrical engineer I should not propose this kind of solution, but it works for me )
But my general advice is: DO NOT buy unbranded power supplies. Nor from eBay, nor from any other shop. Many of them are dangerous to hardware and to your health too. If you have enough money for P35 you have enough money to buy genuine charger if it fails...
Epidemiology sounds interesting. Did you buy P35 to Plague Inc. al the time? -
Thanks for the reply.
Any specific models you'd recommend? I've seen frustration with AC7260 on other booards, though I think what's going on is largely software - some issue where the wireless hardware power cut during sleep and hibernation doesn't get flipped back on - and given there are multiple layers (gigabyte's control panel, bios, windows) that seem to be managing the on/off, it seems to get stuck and confused. Maybe I'm the only one on this thread having the problem, but it's shown up as common in other threads. Suggestions welcome.
And on the epidemiology side, I don't do that much directly with infectious diseases. I mostly look at population health effects of justice related outcomes like racial disparities in traffic stops and searches; environmental justice (landfills, feces lagoons, etc. in low-income and black rural neighborhoods); and injury outcomes like traffic/bike/ped fatalities, prescription overdose and child maltreatment. I'm mostly a public health practitioner more than a researcher (work with local and state health depts and community groups), though spend a lot of time on fancy-stats. I highly recommend the field though. It's meaningful work for tech savvy folks.
So no Plague Inc for me. My games of choice are zombie-infection coop FPS (l4d), puzzles/adventure (witness, orange box, firewatch, last of us, tomb raider), etc. Looking forward to Doom, since I started gaming and modding in that generation. -
I am not in love with the trackpad. Definitely. Doesn't seem to recognize three fingers up - maybe there's some fix for that, but I haven't explored it.
Speaking of input oddities, I'm frustrated that the left windows key is bound to right windows. Sure, that might not seem like a big deal - unless you have a keyboard (I love my mechanical) you're trying to map with SharpKeys. Then it creates weird layout loop problems. Wouldn't seem to difficult to call that left windows key "Left windows." But yeah. I'm guessing that's too trivial of a problem for folks here, but if anyone's come across it, I'd be curious. -
Finally got mine back from Gigabyte RMA. So far so good. I'll install some benchmark software and mess around with it some more as soon as I get home from work.

Mine will be for sale. Watch the buy sale trade forum. Great condition. Just can't get out from under our hospital bills.

Hi,
I just got my P35x from EXCaliberPC few weeks ago and I'm very happy with the laptop but recently I just noticed strange thing while the laptop in battery mode that if I connect a hard drive or flash disk in any of the usb ports the laptop after like 10-15 mins freezes and the display become dark and I have to do a hard shutdown to the laptop and this is not happening while charging. So I wonder if any of you guys facing the same problem?
*By the way all drivers and bios are up to date. -
Hey I'm sorry to hear about the bills :-/ but thank you for the reviews.
Could I ask a couple of questions? How do you apply the cooling paste? And I thought it broke warranty if you did that? Is that true?
Could we get some pics of the post job or a description for how you did it?
I would appreciate it! -
I have a P35x v5 as well. Overall an outstanding gaming laptop given its size-to-power ratio. 40-55 FPS is the norm in heavily dense area. The only downside is its cooling inefficiency. The CPU temps can reach as high as 99C while gaming and that's too high by my (or any) standards. So I'm contemplating between NBFC and EasyTune 6 to manually control the CPU fan.
Thing is, I've heard numerous claims that ET6 is buggy, overrides default fan control settings (destroying the computer in the process) and is extremely difficult to uninstall completely from the system while NBFC is extremely complicated to set up. As you can tell, I don't plan on OC-ing anything at all. I just want to control the CPU fan speed so the CPU stays rather 'cool' under heavy load.
I apologise for the rather off-topic diversion, but could anyone give me some insights on how to manually control the laptop CPU fan? I just thought this would be helpful to new owners of this laptop series. -
Hi there folks! First post on this forum. Bought one of these off Ebay recently, and I'm experiencing the coil whine. Plugging in any headphones makes the noise quite audible, but even without them, I can hear it if I put an ear to the body of the laptop. Will an external sound card fix the problem? Can I somehow fix it myself?
