So I've had my Gigabyte p35X v4 for 2 weeks it came with Windows 8.1 (which I hate), I've now got it running the way I want and overall I'm very happy with the laptop it but every time I start up from a shut down the sound properties box pops open and i can't work out how to disable it. I've looked in startup in taskmanager, services, scheduled tasks, msconfig, and all the startup folders I can find. How do I disable this? Its driving me crazy!!!! Any ideas?

The Windows sound properties window? Or something else (if something else, can you post a screenshot of it)?

I am 100% certain I had this issue once, not sure which computer it was or what I did to fix it. It may very well have been my P35X V3.

I know what you mean tho, its really irritating. It boots up normal, no issues at all but you always get an open window that you have to close for no apparent reason.

I'm betting you already tried it, but make sure all drivers are up to date. You can use the smart update or just download them manually from Gigabyte. My guess would be chipset, audio, or the dolby software.

Mine only does this when i have multiple audio sources plugged in. Does it still do this with nothing plugged in?

My v3 does it each time I plug something (even DVI) into the HDMI port.

It could be the "Intel Display Audio" device. If you an external audio source connected (remember some video sources carry an audio signal too, such as TVs through HDMI or DisplayPort), then disconnect any and see whether this still comes up.

I think its because every time you connect an external , digital, audio output the dolby enchantments get disabled. This is windows stupid way of showing that. The first time i connected a TV through HDMI i got a message stating that all enchancements have been disabled for this audio output, but now all i get is the same window as you.

I was working on another issue tonight and connected to my external display with the HDMI, and sure enough this popped up every time for me so I agree with above it does it on HDMI. Normally I was using the DP connection and it never did it on that. If you have the means, one fix would be to use DP instead of HDMI (I realize that is a crappy solution).

I hope I'm not intruding although this is not the right forum page but I can't seem to find any P35X V4 Owner's Lounge, so here's my question: I play LoL and WoW all day sometimes and i often do leave my PC on when i go and take a little to long break so i was wondering if the laptop has any throttling issues?
