Making one good one takes a while, especially when making something that thin. The last one I tried was for the p150em's gpu in my sig. Surprisingly lasted this long.

Please record temperatures during your upcoming benchmarks if not already planning to do so. Also, are you still running a -100mV undervolt?

Does anyone with a build other than Cakefish's wanna post some temps? I'd like to see what the standard CPU clocks at in temps.

I'm also curious about the battery life. I'm needing to use this machine for other work aside from gaming and I'd love to know how long that will last. I was looking at the new Clevo, but then saw that the battery life is supposed to be pretty bad :-/

I dont think I have any pictures of my last project, and the PC was sold roughly three months ago to someone at Dreamworks (he still uses this today). Otherwise I wouldnt be in the market for a new one...

I may be able to take pictures for next one though. Improvements varies, but the P150EM's GTx680M idled at 31C and topped out at 82C when overclocked to +1000Mhz on core clock and 2600Mhz on memory. Before that it used to idle at 34C and topped out at 94C.

No, I'm running this at standard voltage. Yes, I'm recording temps :)

Another hour of actual benchmarks, then half hour of putting the graph together I estimate.

Without a definitive ETA date of P35X v3-CF2, I'm so tempting to change my order to GT72 2QD...only if it had IPS and 980m...

Yeah overclockers like to do that, just so that they can then put it in one of their "this week only sales". In a way I'm glad because it puts it well out of my budget now.

When you have time, can you test StarCraft 2 (or any equivalent RTS) with massive armies? Would like to see how it handles few hundreds of units.

It is not. The P35X v3-CF1 is about 1900 GBP, which is about 3009 USD. Compare that to being about 2000 USD in the US. It is almost cheaper to fly to the US, pick it up, and fly back than it is to buy it in the UK. Fortunately for me, I am going home to the US for Christmas and I will be buying a new laptop while I am there.

I bought the CF1 three days ago for 2450 USD including shipping, which is pretty much the same price as xoticpc has it listed for now (and they don't even have it available yet...). That being said, they did just increase the price so it's closer now to 2550USD including shipping an the cheapest you can get it in the US will be 2350 prolly, but in 3ish weeks... not including shipping or any upgrades or any tax if you happen to live in the same state as the retailer haha.

Crysis & Crysis Warhead benchmark tools don't support the required resolutions. I am trying out a Crysis 2 benchmark tool to see if that can replace it.

I should clarify. The games themselves run fine at 3K, it is the benchmark tool that can't handle it and crashes instantly.

Does that mean you tried downscaling the desktop resolution to 1080p before running the benchmark and it still crashes? Or you just benched in the default 3K reso?

Tried launching the benchmark file while the game was set to run at native resolution. It crashed instantly. I also downloaded a 3rd party benchmark tool that did not include 1152p or 1620p in the drop-down menu options.

Would down scaling your desktop reso to 1080p from 3k before running anything make any difference?

You're running everything from the native 3k reso and then down scaling right?

Cake: hate to keep harping but when you are testing these games can you note the heat around the keyboard and palm area? This will make or break my decision on this laptop vs MSI this year.

    DONE!!!

OK, because I really need to go to sleep asap as I have lectures in the morning, I will not compile all the raw data I have collected (I'll leave out VRAM usage, throttle info for now). Just focus on the FPS and temps... making the graph now... upload very soon :)

Looks like CPU should be checked a bit before doing any undervolting or turboboost disabling.

P650SE is winning with the help of extra fan so far in cooling department.

I will look into this first thing when I get mine.

So impressed, Cakes - you are getting very playable frame rates on those maximum possible settings at 3k. Reducing MSAA a bit looks like it will put you over 60fps for most games.

Remember that this is the 980M while the P650SE has the 970M. The P35W v3 with the 970M is not yet out and the 980M equipped P650SG is also not out yet. So we will have to wait and see. We can't really infer that much from these mismatched models currently. Though I do not doubt the Clevo will perform very well with its 3 fan setup.
Yeah, it felt wrong having to turn on 8xMSAA on many of these games at 3K. Turning that off should yield some nice boosts :)

Yeah, it isn't worth the performance hit having AA enabled at 3K.

I will have to repeat the tests at 3K, but without AA to measure the difference. Hopefully I'll get time this weekend.

I'm in Nebraska. Mine has been stuck in customs in Florida all day. I called a few hours ago and they told me everything was fine and to check back tomorrow for updates. Which means I likely wont get it tomorrow. With no weekend delivery that will make a week delivery with Monday or Tuesday next week :( I was hoping for 3 days. Also still no delivery date on the tracking so no idea when to expect it.

Same thing with me... So apparently the reason they are getting stuck in customs is because anything which is over 2500 USD is subject to particular inspections. Of course, my total was under 2500 USD it was only 2450 USD, but their was some foolishness going on on the paperwork for the invoices and I was told the mistake was because it said 2450 Pounds, not USD, which when converted to USD does in fact exceed 2500... So, even though I was only charged 2450 USD the paperwork was wrong and customs understood the product to be over 2.5k USD and so it's stuck there. Mine still has the same tracking info as "Proceeding with Clearance" or something like that but I was told that it would likely be shipped out tonight, so I look forward to checking tomorrow morning. Otherwise, gg. Monday it'l be..... or God forbid Tuesday... I'm going mad lol T_T

Clevo will definitely have better cooling just compare the thickness (forget about 3 fan even), 21mm to 29mm. Much more room there. From what I see, if someone wants portability more, p35x v3 is the goto model this generation. If someone wants more stability, then p650sg seems real nice with cooling. They are both amazing laptops tbh!!

Guess luck of the draw is on your side. They told me a DHL importer would call me by 5pm which means no laptop until Monday or Tuesday which really sucks . I wonder why they don't call OCUK for info and wanted to talk to me instead. So disappointed but I shouldn't complain since I'm getting it before all the US retailers do.
