Did a ton of lurking here so thanks for the info in both threads. I think this will get a better response here vs What to Buy Thready so hope you guys don't mind. I'm needing a computer for school but also plan to do my gaming on this PC. Mostly MMO's and upcoming newer MMOs. Portability is important to me and performance. Would like to get a good 3 years out of it potentially for both hobbies. Prices are very similar for these two which makes it hard.

    Which would you recommend?

    My observations are:

    -35K has a better chassis
    -35K has a better screen
-35K is a tad lighter and smaller

-25W has much better graphics performance
    -25W is a tad cheaper

Anything I'm missing? Really enjoyed my Gigabyte Vid cards/MB in the past when building PCs so ended up here.

Chassis - depends on your definition.

The P35K is definitely smaller & lighter. The P25W is sturdier and has better cooling.

The 765m vs the 770m is quite a jump.

GeForce GTX 780M, 770M, And 765M: Scaling Vs. Radeon HD 8970M - Getting A Bead On Mobile Graphics Performance

P25W has better battery life I believe

P25W has a user upgradeable CPU (will void warranty), whereas the P35K is soldered to the board.

Really depends on what you want:

    Portability + looks - P35K

    Performance, longevity(?), better cooling P25W

    Thanks BlkKnight for your insight.

I think the P25W is the best bet and I can sacrifice some size for the added graphic power. Heat is certainly a factor to consider as well. Hopefully will not get a lemon. *Fingers Crossed*

I think BlkKnight's observations are sound. I have a P35K and I am happy with the graphics performance. I can easily overclock the GPU to over 1ghz and haven't experienced any heat issues. In fact, the overclock only changed the GPU temps by 1 degree in games. The CPU stays hotter than GPU but haven't had any throttling in games at all.
It isn't nearly as fast as my GTX 670 SLI on my desktop but I am pleasantly surprised at how playable modern games are on this laptop.

The P35K has an IPS screen whereas the P25W has a TN panel. It is one thing to have a TN panel on a desktop that remains stationary but in a laptop I find the IPS panel so much better to use. I don't think many people can appreciate the difference until they actually use an IPS panel in a laptop.

Very good point dalingrin and this does concern me. It's my understanding the P25W has a very high end TN display based on reviews. Is it that much of a factor to pass up the extra GPU power for Display? Really tough choice here.

    They are both nice machines.

Are the new P35K's shipping with the AHVA screens now?

I run an IPS screen on my main PC they coulours are more vibrant than an TN - although their is more ghosting with IPS?
