Anyone got a real world battery test? Web browsing, 50% brightness, wifi on.

Also interested in that. Especially how it compares to the razor blade 14.

This is what I was able to find out:

On Battery Life, Power Consumption & Portability Index : Razer Blade 14-inch (2013) - A Step Closer to Gaming Notebook Perfection - HardwareZone.com.ph Razor Blade 14 scored: Powermark - 172 minutes

On Gigabyte P35K Review - Laptop & Notebook computers the P35K scored: Powermark - 115 minutes

These are from two different sources though...

From several reviews, I think you can expect about 5-6h of light serving with the razor - so around 4h might be realistic for the P35K.

    But thats just my guess.

Where did you get that expected date from? Did XoticPC provide some date or did you switch to another reseller?

I called XOTIC today and they told me Gigabyte should be shipping the P35K's from their US warehouse October 14th, he also told me that they get shipments twice every week from them.

Since they receive shipments twice a week then you can conclude that they will get in before October 18th, from there it takes 5 days to ship with UPS ground.

    * I meant to say the week that follows with the 20th of October (UPS doesn't deliver on Sundays duh)

    Hey thanks for sharing!

Cnet review says 187, not 115, minutes for Powermark balanced profile which is a mix of gaming, browsing, and videos. I'd expect 5-6 hours of battery life for browsing with WiFi on low brightness.

I have a question for anybody who has the P35K:

How dim does the screen get when you turn the brightness to the minimum? Does it become dim enough to make it slightly difficult to read under normal indoor lighting conditions? Would anyone be kind enough to post a picture at maximum brightness and one at minimum brightness for comparison?

I have an Asus and even at the minimum brightness setting, it is far too bright for my eyes at night. It hurts my eyes, gives me headaches, and keeps me from sleeping. I've tried all the laptop settings and several software utilities including F.lux, but the backlight just doesn't go down enough.

^^This! Please. Torn between this and GS70. Whichever can last longest on battery with everyday tasks will probably be the one I get.

I got my new P35K-CF1 from XoticPC yesterday and I am loving this laptop. I couldn't take the slowness of the stock 750GB HDD that came with it, it had to go. Took a Samsung 840 Pro 512GB from old PC and did firmware upgrade and cloned Windows 7 Pro onto it. After installing it, laptop displayed a lot better performance, WEI clocked in at 7.4. While I had it open decided to also increase the memory, added 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1866 sdram. The P35K didn't get along with it and showed it's disgust by Blue screening every attempt to boot the laptop. I switched to 16GB 1600 sdram and the P35K calmed down and booted up properly. Moral of the story, 1866 memory's bad, mmmokay. I also installed a 512GB msata card for the lolz, might try installing linux on it or just keep it as a storage drive for music and videos. If I can find another 512GB msata on sale, will buy it and try some raid 0 action. Ihaven't run any benchmarks, not into that sort of thing.

If I can safely remove the faceplate off of the dvd drive, might replace it with a blu-ray drive I have on my Clevo P150EM that's collecting dust.

Can you tell me the battery life you getting in "real world" such as web browsing, youtubing, word doc, etc? Thanks!

    I'm stuck between P34G, P35K, Razer Blade 14, and W230st.

Originally I was going to take W230st and strip it apart and give it rain drop water effect airbrushed.

So one thing that is definitely bothering me is the function keys. I would like to just be able to press F9 to raise the volume, not fn+F9. Anyone know how to fix this?

I am so confused why the function keys aren't the secondary option and the volume, wifi, screen are the main option. I really hope someone knows how to fix this. I can't find anything in the bios either.

F4 and F5 are somewhat useful keys in Windows - MMOs and their crazy hotkeys aside.

    On the topic of rants,

I personally miss the hardware button for smartmanager from U2442N, even if it would destroy some of the aesthetics.

So, is everyone else's optical-out SPDIF (headphone) port permanently on? I can't figure out a way to turn it off...

I realize that this thread is probably dead, but has anyone experienced any issues with their screen's backlighting? I got this laptop about a week ago when I noticed some very strong uneven backlighting at the bottom of my screen.

I do have some slight uneven backlighting/backlight bleed but nothing like yours. You should definitely get a return/exchange.
