Ok, my problem is that the battery in my gigabyte has swelled and I need to replace it, and before that, remove it. I've had this laptop for a while now, and I feel like I've noticed something was wrong when I was using the touchpad, like something was a little off but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Anyway, I noticed it again a couple nights ago, but this time it was fairly noticeable, especially on the bottom of the laptop. Bear in mind, I'm not good at any of this stuff so I didn't actually realise this was a problem that could occur to begin with, which is why I didn't check it much earlier. My question is how to remove the battery. I've tried just lifting the whole battery off of my laptop, but it seems to be stuck on with what seems like glue or something. There's also the problem of it being swollen (it's only on one side), and how I'm afraid I might mess up and it will explode in my face, as absurd as that probably sounds. How would I go about removing it? If there's a video out there could someone link me to it, that would be a great help. Also, since I'd like to not have to wait for a battery replacement to come in/send it out to the manufacturer (especially not the latter, usually takes months), is there anyway, after I've removed the battery, that I could just leave the charger plugged in and still play like normal, or will that have adverse effects on my laptop, what with heavy gaming and everything? Sorry for the long post, just need some clarification since I'm not the most tech savvy person out there.

I didn't have a battery swelling issue, but I did have an issue with my battery dying. My battery was also stuck onto the back of the case with super sticky glue/tape. Mine wasn't swollen so I wasn't as scared of just yanking it off, but maybe you can try to wrap as much of the battery as possible in plastic wrap/tape and then pull. I was kind of scared I would rip open my battery too because I had to pull so hard, but that was how I removed it.

I contacted Gigabyte USA and they told me I could buy a new battery and then return my old battery after I got the new one (I was still under warranty) and they would just charge me $100 for the new battery and then credit me when they got the old one. So a battery should cost around $100 and it took about 1 week for them to ship me a new one. (From California to Michigan).

I was able to use my laptop with the charger just plugged in without a battery, but I didn't use the GPU much so I don't know what the effects would be.

Here's my response to another use who also had battery issues:

I'll try and give that a go about removing my battery, thanks! As for a replacement, though, I think I'd have to wait for about 3 weeks or so for it to be shipped to my location as the closest they seem to be situated is somewhere in south/south-east asia, I think probably taiwan. Either that, or I'll have to try and find somewhere that has the specific battery in stock or can get it ordered in, which hopefully won't take too long. Anyway, thanks for the response.

I just tried removing the battery, but I'm having a lot of trouble even unplugging it in the first place. There's something right next to the plug making it extremely difficult to pull out, and there isn't any sort of ridge on it that would make it easy just using my fingernail or something. Is there a good way of removing it safely?

I had exactly the same issue with that model!
I actually didn't have any problems unplugging the battery: it's indeed a bit hard to pull out, but not impossible.

As for removing the battery, I was afraid myself because of the glue. I ended up taking it to the store where someone took it out without apparently too much trouble: the technician then showed me the battery and told me it was rather resistant, no risks of it breaking down and exploding (he was even picking it up, putting it back on a table, tapping on it with his hands while telling me all that).
I then ordered a battery from gigabyte and used the laptop without it for one or two weeks, by having it simply plugged to an outlet.

Were you able to use it for heavier use, like gaming by any chance? That's pretty much all I use it for, so I'd just like to know if I can still use it like normal even without the battery. Also, if you can still remember, do you have the link to where you bought the replacement from? I tried looking around on the gigabyte website but I couldn't really find much. I did find one on this site: http://www.storebattery.com.au/gnc-...ebook-computer-original-battery-p-132126.html, like wise with ebay, but I'm not too sure if either are completely trustworthy.

I sent an email to [email protected]: then they sent me a credit card authorization form to fill and mailed me the battery, it was very easy to install and it's been working fine since then.

And yes, you can totally do heavy gaming without the battery: your laptop simply becomes a true desktop replacement: that's how I used it until the battery arrived.

Oh awesome, I'll try emailing them today, thanks! Also yeah I didn't think about it like that, but it pretty much just turns into an all-in-one with a keyboard attached, thanks for the info!
