    Hey guys,

I've been scouring the network for information regarding how HEAVY the Gigaybte P2542G is. I don't get it, people've done some hands-on for it, but NO ONE EVER THINKS TO WEIGH IT

so yeah, any information is ultra appreciated.

the design from the previous generation stayed about the same with few tweaks. so it will be similar in size/weight of the p2532n

I agree! But I don't really care about the backlit keyboard anyhow, so it's really coming down to the weight difference (Gigabyte's .2lbs higher) and CPU difference.

I'll open a thread in the Which Laptop forum section for discussions.

The P2542G's GPU blows away the U2442 due to its GDDR5 memory.

You can buy it from XoticPC. I'm sure there are other resellers now.

GPU runs at 83c, dual fan doesn't seem to be working like they hope. I have a feel the u2442 series will run hot too.

Long time lurker, first post here. I've been looking at this laptop for a while and was hoping to get it soon.

After reading about the temps, i'm wondering if the BIOS allows undervolting the CPU. Anyone have any idea?

I would have my pre-order in already if it had backlit keys.. why's it so difficult to find what I want in a laptop? :p

    Other specs here too.
Notebook GIGABYTE P2542G : details, prices, reviews

Has an i7/3610 and GTX 660M GPU, which is I believe same as the new Apple Retina 15". That GPU Blows away the onboard (4000) video of the more expensive Top end Samsung 900 series ultrabooks.

Only problem I see is a Shiny (reflective) chrome outline of inner Bezel which looks distracting.

We need more reviews on this laptop! On paper, it seems like the perfect balance between style, power, and portability.

The MBP comes with a 650m not 660m, so this is faster, but still mid range, and it's perhaps unfair to compare it to an ultrabook.

Looks good, although it would be nice if it comes in something other than yellow. Personal taste I suppose.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the lightest laptop with a 660m. The next would be the Razer Blade, but that is 17', weighs 6 lbs. +, and doesn't have an optical drive.

Nope the MSi Ge-60 is a bit lighter, but the Gigabyte has 2 exhaust fans and the GE-60 has 1. I bought the GE-60 because I needed a laptop now. This was a close contender.

this is also half the price of the blade and has better spec options.
