With the new 900m series mobile graphics cards rolling out, I was doing a little bit of research on which laptop I should purchase. I came down to 2 laptops: GIGABYTE P35Xv3-CF2 (Pre-order) or Sager NP9377 (with 970m sli also pre-order). They both fit my about 2k - 2.1k budget and they both have the performance I want. I am stuck on the issue of IPS + form factor that the Gigabyte offers vs. 970m SLI + i7-4810MQ price/performance that Sager offers. I was wondering how good of an IPS panel Gigabyte uses on their laptops, and was wondering if anybody had specific model names or specs for them. Hours of google searching did not reveal any such information to me.

Just throwing this out there, but if you are looking for something like the NP9377(Clevo P377SM-A) in a smaller form factor, you might want to consider the Clevo P650SG, almost as slim as P35x, and also available with 980m and IPS display.

I've used a P35G v2 daily for the past four months and it's IPS screen is nice. The matte finish is a bit different than others I've used ... moving left and right in front of the screen causes some contrast changes which can be weird but I think it's just a poor choice of anti-glare treatments ... not a deal killer in the least but certainly different than other matte finishes I've used...

Otherwise, typical IPS performance ... excellent color and saturation, great viewing angles ... plenty fast for games ...

There is a small amount of bleed in the lower left but otherwise, it's bleed free. And oddly, the little bit of bleed that *is* there seems to be worse a initial power up and then gets better as the panel warms up.

The FHD display used in CF2 is the same as the one used in the P35W v2. Here's what notebookcheck.net had to say about the screen:

Wow, thanks for the awesome suggestion. I can get it down to 1.7k for what I need. Really nice. I am following the official thread for the Clevo P650SE/G, but I cannot find any good information on that particular reseller. I guess hours of more research is needed. Cheers!

That's pretty good. I might actually go for the Gigabyte then. Did not know they were using the same screen. Thanks!

Hello. Can a Gigabyte owner tell me the exact model number of the panel? I am looking for a screen upgrade and this one caught my attention but there are a lot of declination of the 156WF4, I don't want to order a lower quality screen. Thanks :)

Oops, forgot to mention I am looking for a full HD panel, "3K" is too much for me and too expensive. (games wouldn't run well for my poor GTX 670mx)
It seems that only LG makes full HD IPS 15.6" anyway , but Notebookcheck didn't precised which version of the LP156WF4 is used and as you can see, there are several models : LCD Panel Advanced Search - Panelook.com

My friend just got the Gigabyte P35W v2 from XoticPC and compared to my P35K, the P35W's viewing angle, especially vertically is horrible. This is for an upcoming review on JoanneTechLover (youtube.com/joannetechlover).

Anyone else had this experience from XoticPC's p35W v2?

I just confirmed using the program HWiNFO64 that my friend's P35W v2 has a cheap Chi Mei CMN15B9 TN screen where my P35K has the LG Phillips LG03A5 IPS screen! We're definitely pissed off.

Sorry to hear about this! We will definitely do what needs to be done to take care of you. On this model, what we have listed on the website is directly from the spec sheet and marketing information that Gigabyte sent to us prior to release. We are currently double checking with them on it and if we need to update our site, we will do so ASAP. Please contact our dedicated service team and they can help if we need to pull the laptop back to our facility and look at other options for.
