Hello fellas,
To me the Gigabyte Aero 15 x9 is amazing. I have waited a long time for this laptop to be released in the Netherlands which it never did. After a month or 2 I made the decision to order it from the US. I bought this laptop because I wanted a professional looking laptop that I can use at work and also still be able to play the latest games. This laptop looks absolutly classy! It has many ports and even a sd card reader which I occasionally use. The keyboard has a very crisp feel to it. I also tested a previous model (15x v8) which had some unresposnive keys that needed to be pressed at the center and with force to be registered. But the model I got all the keys works perfectly. I have tested every single key by typing every corder of every key. Not sure if they fixed it or I was just lucky. It also has great 144hz screen and I didn't have screen bleeding issues.
Some things that Gigabyte needs to improve on is the cooling. My CPU temps are on the high side between 85 to 92c when gaming (I only tested this with Witcher 3, BF4 and Apex Legends). This is with undervolting -0.140mv. Right now I underclock the CPU when gaming which lowers the temps to around 70 to 75c. For some reason I don't lose fps and haven't really found out why these games make the cpu work so hard when it clearly doesn't need to. The GPU averages around 75 to 85c. I might repaste the CPU in the future hopefully that lowers the temps.
Also the software that controls the GPU/Intel could be better. I am averaging about 5h to 6h on battery with low to medium usage. Which I believe should be way higher with a 94Wh battery.
Conclusion: I absoslutley love this laptop and do recommend it. It looks very professional is very sturdy and thin. Hower you should underclock the cpu for a safer CPU temperature when gaming. But despite doing this I can still play games at 60fps or higher. If I have to give it a score it would be an 8.5 out of 10.

Did you do any repasting or adding of thermal pads for this?
-
No I didn't might do it in the future.

Alright thanks for your review! Looking to purchase this soon

Thx for the review! I am thinking of buying this, you confirm the quality is decent, I guess usually only people with issue will post online so this is a nice reassurance. Was also thinking about the 9th gen cpu aero 15 classic xa, but much more expensive, and due to thermal limit already, would it be worthwhile to just get the 8th gen cpu instead and save some money since 9th gen cpu you cannot get more power out of it.

Right, 9th gen also have wifi 6, which reduce latency, would make gaming experiences better. I wonder does it have to be 9th gen cpu? or just if your wifi card supports wifi 6 then that is enough? but I suppose if you use LAN when gaming then this won't matter?
I never experiences 144hz let along 240hz, I think the gpu may not be at full power to even 240hz? also 144hz and 240hz, is it even noticable to human eyes? i heard 60hz to 144hz is fairly obvious. -
I havent used a 144hz/240hz screen before so I can't comment on it, will be purchasing the aero x9 soon which is the 144hz one. -
How did you underclock the CPU? I would really like to get temps down otherwise I may switch platforms to the Razer(bad QC ive heard) or the MSI (also runs hot sadly). Im sitting at 90C while gaming

That is very interesting that your gaming performance didn't suffer with the downclock. I'll have to check that out once my arrives. I'm currently on a first-gen Aero 15 with the 1060 and game at around 120FPS on games like Fortnite.
I have my current setup undervolted slightly, it has helped keep the laptop temps down to avoid throttling for the most part.
The biggest improvement is getting the laptop up off the table directly to help with venting, FWIW.
