I'm curious if anyone around here owns this laptop since there seems to be a lack of topic about it and been months since it has been out.
I ordered this thing about a few days ago and it's quite a drag that the waiting time is quite long.
I have no idea how this would perform over the previous model considering the difference it seems is only in terms of the cpu processor which doesn't seem to have a lot of difference in performance possibly. I'm quite aware of how capable the Haswell processor was and not sure if there would be a significant improvement overall or that Skylake would have been a better alternative.
this is my first purchase of a Gigabyte brand system and I'm just curious on what the user experience are with it and if you are satisfied with the brand. I could have opted for an Asus but the specs just wasn't there which I would have liked.
any inputs from board members are much appreciated and I hope there are fellow users like me that will have this unit. Thanks.

I've had the v3 since it was launched and have been very happy with it, would be interesting to see how the v4 compares performance wise, haven't clued up about the main differences but the main issue with the v3 was the throttling of the cpu linked to cooling. I ended up repasting which helped a lot. Am sure you will be happy with it, the v3 has been a solid machine so far for me.

ok after some annoying delays, I was already able to pick up the p35x v4 last week. could have picked it up 2 days earlier but I was quite busy and wanted the thing be installed with an additional 500gb msata ssd. the annoying part is that the store couldn't do the upgrade due to some manufacturer's warranty being voided despite me having paid some additional store warranty for it. although I hope they could work out the issue with gigabyte about it in the near future where I had to upgrade some internal parts. as an alternative (which I really liked), I just bought a regular 960GB SSD which I used to replace the ODD thru a bay/rack (cool feature).
here are my impressions,
unit has a very good battery life for a gaming laptop. on regular use with wifi on, it runs a decent 4 hours.
cpu doesn't seem to throttle at all and quite fast consistently.
gpu performance is really fast. although I always wondered about having the GTX980 model rather than the GTX980m but I'm not complaining considering several factors which I'm going to elaborate.
there seems to be a break-in period required to have the unit up to speed.
I have experienced some hiccups during the initial use like noticeable annoying delays or taking longer for the laptop to process/open up and run programs and browse pages and run videos in both the laptop and in the web. although this seem to have disappeared now. I initially thought that it was caused by invisible garbage wares or by a defective wifi. thank goodness it's neither.
fan goes to unprecedented turbo mode (jet engine noise) during gaming. I do not think lowering the fan speed is advisable.
the top part of the laptop where the power button and speakers are gets very hot during gaming.
screen brightness initially seem to be very weak/dim but seem to get to good level after some break-in time.
screen is also of matte finish which is ok but not my ideal liking.
build quality seems good overall although the HDD tray could had been better.
overall I would say this laptop is good so far and I would give it a grade of 85%.pau1ow likes this. -
after some further research, it seems the stuttering problem is caused by Windows 10. how annoying.

i got a p34w v4 a few weeks ago, and love it. The only issue I'm having is with the computer losing power all of a sudden when i use it after waking it from sleep mode. it doesn't always do this, but the computer has been plugged in each time it occurs.
otherwise this computer is working great, arma 3 runs on ultra, so i couldn't be happier -
