Control center

Does any one else find this control center software , rather old and redundant there is not a lot you can do in it and it looks like something from 10 years ago

 

Came here looking for advice, cos yes, I sure do. It's almost as bad as the clevo control centre but with slightly more functionality. I like this laptop ( have a 15p XC) but the support from gigabyte isn't great.

 

Yes it is terrible. I am a owner of the new 11th gen intel aero, and the control center is killing battery life. I might only get 1hr with control center running. The bottom is very hot as well on battery. This is with battery profile that limits cpu to 30watts /battery saver /low brightness. It seems that control center is keeping the dgpu awake and eating 30watts or more. Once I kill control center process in task manager, I get normal battery life, six plus hrs web browsing. The bottom is cool to the touch if its not on silent fan mode. Not only that, but I get better and more consistent benchmark scores when it is not running.

Tried to use the laptop without control center installed, but its impossible as you need it to change fan modes and easily change power limits to the cpu and control nvidia dynamic boost. Also the function keys dont work without it.

Luckily as long as I kill control center process on startup, I still get working function keys. Fan mode is set to whatever control center last set it to before process killed. Cpu pwr limit and nvidia dynamic boost is last what it was set to. But it is a pain in the ass to have to kill the process every time I log in. I could create an automatic task, but I still need to manually switch power profiles when switching to battery or back to plugged in.

There is a new version of control center on the website, but the download link doesnt even work. Gigabyte is some "professional" company. The hardware is decent, but the software is ****...
