For anyone who has a brand new X5 V7: is it normal behavior for the laptop to take 3 tries for first POST / Boot Up ?

After pressing power button with 100% charge on battery and on electric power: power button lit up then winked out. Pressed it again, same thing happened. Third time (held button down for an extra heartbeat) and laptop sat there for over a minute with power button lit, status buttons lit and no sign of screen coming to life.

After about 90 seconds, laptop started up but then froze twice during normal web browsing / youtube video use about 5 minutes later.

What is considered "normal" first start up behavior for this machine?

In addition: how bad is the "normal" backlight bleed on these machines ?

Can you post a pic of what your backlight bleed looks like? My buddy had one that he returned as the upper right corner had it real bad. He didn't buy another yet.

The initial power issue sounds maybe like it was doing a BIOS update, but not certain. Has it been fine ever since, including browsing web, etc.? Got all drivers installed/updated?

BIOS update would be impossible on the very first boot up (No wifi connection to download anything). I returned it after it froze while web browsing twice. It wouldn't even respond to (ctrl, alt, del). The backlight bleed was upper right and difused through the whole upper right area. There was a small "hot spot" on the bottom left that was a little beacon of nastiness. $2400 should buy better quality control and awesome out of the box !

I wrote to Aorus / Gigabyte, all they wanted to know was what serial number it was so they could examine the unit. So much for the "valued customer". I'm now out $133 in shipping and the money is tied up on my credit card for 7-14 days.

Ack, that is awful! Well, maybe the factory ships them with a bios update after imaging them and that is the final step to it loading it.. not sure but just a theory haha. This was the laptop I was waiting for for a long time, so after my friend's experience and yours I'm more hesitant. I'd expect a lot better for $2400 too :(

Ouch, that sucks, hope you get a new laptop ASAP, once your CC refund is issued that is. I just ordered the Arous x5 v7 from Amazon, hopefully, it will come with no issues.

If anyone actually gets their X5 v7 to work, don't forget to start an owner's lounge thread for it so we can all badger you with questions! I'm curious how much wifi browsing you can get on battery. Especially on the 1080 version, to see if any part of that whole schtick is worth anyone's time.

For a first time experience with gigabyte / aorus I am left unimpressed. In fact, my opinion of them is that they don't listen to their Customer and are unprofessional.

I was made promises and none of them were kept. The employee who made them is allegedly "no longer with the company". I was denied access to speak to his Manager. Instead... I was handed off to someone who clearly is disinterested and wants to make me go away for a cheap $59.99 backpack.

Get a clue Gigabyte, I was a first time customer spending over $2k on a defective crappy unit right out of the box.
