Been playing Overwatch and have noticed that my PC is running really hot, like to hot to touch.

So I downloaded a program to check and here are the temps:

    is that very high?

That is high, especially since that isn't even 100% load. What laptop is it?

A repaste should bring the temps down. If the laptop has fan control settings, it could help turning them up. I wouldn't worry to much though, modern chips can take a lot of punishment. The CPU in my old Dell XPS was pegged at 95 degrees for the entire time i gamed on it (must have been 2-3000 hours over the years) and its still working fine.

Thanks :) I didn't realise but Aorus has a temp program to and it says GPU 89c and CPU at 96c. In terms of re paste are there guides as i'm a major noob? And what paste would you recommend?

Any decent quality paste will lower temps. I use Arctic MX-4 as its non conductive, pretty cheap, lasts years and is easy to apply and remove. Application should be quite easy on that laptop and i'd imagine there are plenty of guides on how to do so. Simply unscrew the heat sink according the the numbers on the screws, clean the old paste off with some rubbing alcohol and then add some new thermal paste. I've seen reductions of 10-20 degrees from re pasting in some cases depending on how bad the stock paste was.

Thanks so much :) I found it on amazon.... its only like £3 which is a lot cheaper than I thought! So the paste that originally comes with laptops is just a cheap normal paste?

99c package? Jesus, go repaste it. That is scary temp right there, it's very close to thermal bye bye.

Honestly please buy something like kryonaut etc. MX4 probably won't do in this case, the temps are rather critical.

Pascal card on 89c is also very concerning.

Here is a list of the thermal compound I'd recommend for you:
    - Kryonaut
    - IC Diamond 24k
    - Gelid gc extreme
    - Phobia nanogrease extreme
    - Coolermaster Mastergel Maker Nano
    - Proliamtech PK3

    Pick your poison.

Also, it's very important to note, if you still have warranty you should check if you're allowed to do a repaste or not, otherwise the seller might not give you warranty if something should go south.

Ah I dont know if my warranty is already void as I installed an SSD?

It all depends on seller, some allow you to repaste and install an SSD, others don't.

You would normally aim around 70s, in your case everything under 85 would be perfect. Even tho that might be wishful thinking at this point.

Is there a reason my laptop is over heating this much? is this common for my type of laptop? So even if i re paste under 85 is gonna be virtually impossible?

There could be multiple reasons, if you're lucky they just did a poor assembly and repaste will make ur temps good again, if you're unlucky then.... you need to get some tools going and start to mod it yourself.

That's worrying...well if its the latter then I won't be able to do much as all I know about laptops is gaming :/ If re paste does nothing and I leave it is it gonna kill my computer very soon?

No, just call the guys you bought it from and tell them you want either a refund or a fix.

Makes sense :p I also just cleaned out the back it was quite dusty. Both cpu and gpu were down to around 75c. Can dust really cause that much overheating?

yeah, blocking the heat would basicially cause ur system to get everything inside the case.
