Bios FB09 & EC F008 for Aero 15X v8 came out today. Does someone know what was fixed with the updates? I am missing the changelog. Anyway, I successfully updated my laptop.

Yeah I wish they had a changelog, I don't understand why they don't. I will try USB-C to see if mine still works...

It seems must have some widespread issues as the latest BIOS was pulled from the website. Now I can only see the previous one (v8)

I flashed the new "old" version (FB08 / F007) from the 7th of August and now the ports of my docking station on the thunderbolt 3 port seem to work. But there seem to be still something wrong with the NVIDIA gpu in conjunction with displays which are connected to the docking station.
Edit: The problem with the NVIDIA gpu only occurs when moren than one display is connected to the docking station.Last edited: Aug 8, 2019 -
I just installed the new bios FB0A & ec F008. The thunderbold 3 docking station seems to work. But it's still working less good as with the old bios. With bios FB08 & ec F007 the nvidia gpu worked when there was one display connected to the docking station (as I stated in the last post). Now it's only working when no display is connected to the docking station.

I don't understand why gigabyte does not simply post a changlog so everyone can decide if updating makes sense.

Not exactly sure what I've changed. But now it's working with all displays connected to the docking station. I did not update any drivers in the meantime and it's still the new bios FB0A & ec F008. Except 3dmark seems to crash the docking station when one or more displays are connected. But I do not care about synthetic benchmarks.^^ Anyway, will have an eye on it and report if I find out something.
Conclusion for the moment: It's worth to update the bios. -
I think that I found the reason why the external displays (which are connected to the thunderbolt 3 docking station) sometimes work and sometimes not with the nvidia gpu (dgpu): It seems to be a bug in Windows! Everytime when the internal display is set as the primary display, I can use the external displays for the output of the dgpu. But when I use one of the external displays as primary display, then the dgpu does not work. According to >this< post in the display link forum, Microsoft wants to release an optional update on the 27th of August which fixes this problem.
Conclusion again: bios FB0A as well as ec F008 seem to work pretty well!Last edited: Aug 23, 2019tiredmeliorist likes this. -
My dgpu is not correct recognized after update BIOS to FB0A.
Seems the SUBSYSTEM ID of dgpu was modified from 1653 to 1652, which should be GTX1060 for AERO15W, while my model is AERO15X with GTX1070 max-q.
In fact, the FB0A BIOS file for AERO15X is identical to the BIOS file for AERO15W, not sure if it is a mistake.
I can still force to use nvidia's driver, but I am unable to perform driver update.
I tried to force flash the old BIOS FB09, still the same issue.
I don't count on Gigabytes to solve EC Error issue anymore, but at least don't publish untested BIOS and ruin my laptop. -

After Turn off 3d accerlerate and Turn on again, my model do change back to AERO15X and dgpu's SUBSYSTEM ID is correct now. But I am now running on FB09 as I previous forcely downgrade it.
My chrome went black for the hardware changing... -
Hi guys, just updated my BIOS today to FB0A / F008.
Broke my displays, and was not able to detect the Nvidia 1070 after the update. Wasted an hour troubleshooting. Stupid Gigabyte, really terrible on the software / firmware front.
My current setup has 3 external monitors, 2 of them powered by the HDMI/mini-DP, and the 3rd by a thunderbolt 3 dock. After the BIOS update, two monitors went dark, Nvidia card was not detected under device manager.
Fix was stupidly simple. Detach the thunderbolt 3 cable and boot. Nvidia is now detected. Shutdown and re-attach the cable. Everything works.
Wonder why they can't get these things to work properly. -

Has anyone worked out what this latest bios changed yet?

I updated from FB05 --> FB0A
The bios update blue screened on me but was successful anyways. no problems. The issue several posts earlier with dgpu pcie IDs getting switched around is definitely not universal.
No issues with devices not getting detected, and this bios doesn't lock down the cpu power limits which was a fear I had that made me avoid bios updates for so long.
Either this bios, or more likely a bios released some time between 05 and 0A improved thunderbolt 3 egpu compatibility. For me on FB05 my egpu wouldn't be detected at all on a reconnect, but with 0A and a cmos clear later eGPUs (at least razer core x chroma) are working as you would expect (seamless hot disconnects and reconnects, all the egpu monitors fire right up). Previously no gpu would show up at all in device manager without a reboot. big improvement.
