I kept thinking that it was in my head but yes it does appear to be wavy. Same locations you pointed out.

Epic frame rates for such a high res! I am still happy just playing on 1080p so it should rock any game in my scenario!

What temps are you getting? And I guess over time please report on battery life.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I was hoping for playable frame rates at native resolution. Being able to crank up most of the goodies is a nice surprise.

TBH, I haven't been watching the temps much. I feel around the notebook from time to time and there are some hot spots but nothing crazy.

Congrats on the laptop! Very surprised that they actually had it in stock... Now I'm thinking of picking up a P34W tomorrow.

Could you put some links about the Canadian V3 CF2? Cannot find it... I am curious of this version, specially to know whether it comes with a bilingual keyboard or not. Cheers :)

Amazing! What a nice machine you got there.

It's kind of incredible that you ordered and got it before it was officially announced at CES :D

If you had some time to check the temps, that would be amazing. Enjoy it!

Aorus X3 is released on Newegg, it have 870m and it's $1,599. Somewhat decent for the price, but I don't like using Kepler powered GPU as it is toasty, I rather wait for 970m.

Awesome! The Aorus folks on Fcebook replied to my comment confirming it as well. With all the crazy game install sizes we have now that will be fantastic.

exactly. because its already set up in raid 512gb. but can you do a raid it 3 way? because it be waste imo if I had the spare ssd as a storage driver where I could install files on it rather than if it had a spare 2.5" slot free id make it storage then.
that be insane speeds if you could do it 3 way raid.

    Thanks!

If you have a specific scenario you would like me to gather temperatures for let me know.

Here is what I got in FurMark after about 15 runs on the 1080p preset...
    http://i.imgur.com/IODRNYv.jpg
78c Max GPU in a 19c ambient temperature.

The screenshot shows the wrong renderer, in the test it clearly said 970m.

Thanks. If you could download HWInfo64:

    HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download

Then run it in the background in "sensors" mode while checking benchmarks / games. This will capture max values for both CPU and GPU temperatures (you can reset the state between games / benchmarks).

You could try for example: 3dmark firestrike, 3dmark skydiver, 3dmark 11, Unigine Heaven, Unigine Valley (with Unigine benchmarks it would be good to use just existing presets, so numbers would be comparable).

If you have some games, try running them both in native and 1080p resolutions.

Also you could run Intel XTU while running benchmarks / games to see if there is any throttling going on (also XTU can keep track of max temperatures, just I didn't find easy way to reset the state between runs):

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel XTU)

Got one of the Razer Blade 512GB models for $1710 during the 30% off sale. Not sure if I should return it or what right now. These benchmarks posted back look amazing. I haven't benched Batman Arkham Origins on here yet. Not sure what to expect. Are these able to game off of power? What about battery life when using it for work.

The Aorus 3+ 870m runs extremely hot, don't purchase it unless you want a fire pit on your lap. Check the review video by newegg. The deal is good but I think both cpu and gpu hit the 90's C temperature levels.

i read that they run at pretty much full power on battery and run longer. but id assume that's dependant on the control panel preset settings if you want to. id buy a razer blade....if the 970m wasn't so damn good. any manufacturer selling items with huge discount means they just want to move surplus/old stock for the new items. so id wait personally if I was going to spend a lot of money.
I can hang about till gta v is out so ill see what the razer 14 2015 will be stocked with and whats new. aswell as my other options.

Yes and no. Razer had a 50% accessory and 30% off system sale for winning a CES best of. Definitely trying to clear out old Blade stock. I might just end up returning the Blade.

Derek, you need to do a proper review. Need to know if those keyboard flex issues are still present and if the LCD lid still flexes. You are apparently one of a handful of people with the unit in hand!

I have had 2 of these version 3 laptops. First one the screen would make a cracking noise when i opened and closed and the lid. The hinge would rub also rub the chassis. The second one is way better and no issues with the hinge. Both unfortunately suffer from keyboard flex. Especially the left side were it dips in a bit around the e key. Performance is awesome and it doesnt get to got while gaming.

    Hi everyone,

I had the chance to order a Aorus x3 plus v3 (CF1) from Excaliber PC and I'm pretty happy with it thus far.

    Quick question...

However, when launching MSI Afterburner or GPU-Z it looks like the GPU clock is not going further than 540Mhz, when gaming and whenGPU temps are between 50-70 degrees.
I'm unsure whether this is a reading issue from GPU-z or MSI afterburner or if the machine is locked at 540Mhz and constantly throttles and can't do more than that (less than the 900-1050Mhz expected regular/boost clock rates).

If you guys are owning this model, could you have a quick check as well? On my end I've installed all the latest driver updates (from the Aorus Update tool) as well as the latest FB05/FD05 Bios.

    Thanks!

Looks like it is something specifically with MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z. Furmark is reporting 748Mhz and it's bouncing up and down a little bit. Running on battery power btw.

Ha, indeed this was due to MSI Afterburner/GPU-Z. I've seen clock up to 1035Mhz with Furmark. Thanks much!
