Not sure where to begin. Ordered a brand new X7 v6 from a Reseller in the UK. Switching it on showed the Windows Taskbar on the left hand side, somebody had already used the laptop, not sure that's how it left the factory. Then Windows and the BIOS wouldn't recognise the 1 TB internal HDD. Finally the screen started flickering and this is within one day of receiving the laptop. Returned it and received a replacement, within minutes the 's' and 'a' keys on the keyboard wouldn't register and within a few hours the spacebar key gave out on me, it made such a creaking racket to begin with and then it got stuck and remained stuck. Returned the laptop promptly and asked for a refund.

I waited more than a year to get this laptop but what a let down. It is a most stunningly beautiful machine, quality and aesthetics wise but what good is it if one cant use it, even for a few hours, let alone a couple of years. I wish to ask whether this is something particular to Aorus or could it be that the reseller had tried to palm off returned/rejected/faulty laptops. This is truly disheartening, I am starting to wonder what really is afoot. This is the 21st century and not some dark ages, a machine ought to work as advertised. One pays such an exorbitant price from a supposedly well established manufacturer only to have this product beaten by the effort of a self trained, corner shop techie who would most certainly come up with a better laptop, which would last a good five years without a hitch or glitch. I have a couple of laptops from over six years still, they work just fine.

Now I am wondering if I should still get this laptop or choose another one. And who do U think the culprit is, the reseller or Aorus.

I understand the next generation is well nigh, only I am wondering if its worth the wait.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

Who is the UK reseller out of interest?

In my experience I've always found them very good and the best out of the bunch, also if you're a member of their forum they have a dedicated customer support team on there who personally take care of the customers - and helped me out quite a few times when it came to problems with previous orders.

As I mentioned, they were very good with the replacement and the refund but I can't shake off this feeling, two in a row is one too many, especially seeing they were meant to be brand new machines. I am not sure these machines left the factory with such glaring oversights.

Going back to your experiences with both machines - did both of them arrive with the Aorus seal intact on the box? If so - both of them wouldn't of been used in anyway beforehand as the seal itself is proof that it's comes straight out of the factory. However if the seal had been broken on the box, it would most likely leave something like "VOID" residue all over the same area on the box.

A mate of mine at work ordered the Aero 14 last week from CCL which arrived with the original Gigabyte seal broken and was only sealed with a blank white sticker, he took a photo and sent it to them to which they apologised and confirmed that it was part of a cancelled order and he sent the unit back straight away.

I have to admit the seal seemed intact and I wouldn't say it was tempered with. But the laptop inside was a different story altogether, I could see wires carelessly loose on the speaker, U could see it was a shoddy piece of work. Another thing, the first time I received a promotion code for an NVIDIA game and the second time I didnt.

To take on board what U said, I did my research and found Overclockers to be really good, which is why I chose to order from them, but now I am not really sure. Not meaning to point fingers at them but U will appreciate, my experience has been rather annoyingly unsavoury, to say the least.

To be honest in that case you may of just been really unlucky to get two bad units back to back, as that's most likely how they would of both came straight out of the factory - it could even be the case that both units were part of a poorly manufactured batch which can happen at times, regardless of where you order from. I had a similar scenario myself years ago when the Nexus 5 smartphone was first released and I ended up having to go through 3 of them before I was happy with it due to how bad some of the newly manufactured batches were (poorly assembled chassis, bad screens, phone buttons etc.). Still, you wouldn't expect this especially with a £1800+ laptop.

I've always stuck with Overclockers due to the reasons specified in my other post, the only other time I order elsewhere is when another company have something that is on a special offer or when I only really have to. I believe OcUK have a Gigabyte / Aorus rep on their forum as well who steps in to help out with customer queries.

I appreciate Ur insight and just might look at Overclockers again. As for the Aorus rep, he's more lost than those seeking his advice, the genius has been saying the same thing for the past 3 months now, that the v7 is going to be out within two weeks and its been two months, give or take, since he first said it. In fact it's the potential buyers who have more information than he does. It is so frustrating really that the company rep doesn't have any clue.

I will still take Ur advice and write there (OcUK forum).

And this is a very raw nerve, kind sir... the laptop was £2100/- to be exact. :)

And if it makes any difference, tell them (OcUK) that U just might have helped them retain a customer.

    @LiamAcer

A most interesting development, I can't log in to the OcUK forums, says user doesn't exist. Tried forgot password option too, says this email is not registered. And I was most certainly there on the forum before this laptop fiasco.

Strange.. I haven't dissed them anywhere, and this is first time in this forum that I actually named them. Moreover, back then I actually wanted to try a third laptop from them but the OcUK rep advised me not to and to simply opt for a refund.

Being unable to log in or use the forum... really interesting.

Double check to make sure that you're trying to log in with the correct user credentials, as daft as it may sound - from time to time I nearly get myself locked out of forums because I am trying to log in with the wrong username. Use the forgotten your username / password feature in order to retain your login details via the original email address that you used to create the forum account. Also don't forget as well that even though you've got an account on the OcUK website itself, you still have to create a separate account in order to access the forum itself.

I understand my friend, I checked and double checked. That is the email I used to place my order and also to register as a forum member. Even if I did get the log in details wrong, I'd still be able to use the 'Forgotten Password' option which when I do (as I mentioned in the previous message) states clearly that the email hasn't been registered with them. I'll give it another shot, otherwise I'd say this indeed is a revelation.

OcUK upgraded the forums not that long ago. Old account may have been pruned if inactive for a period of time?

I ordered my X5 from OcUK and had a great experience, I've also had reason to speak to the UK rep on a few occasions and found him to be very helpful.

Mine arrived as expected, sealed, taskbar at the bottom etc....

(I'm guessing you ended up with a display/promo/return)

Atom80 is a great guy, if you can't manage a trust msg to him drop me a PM here and I'll shoot you his email.

Thank U for Ur reply. I've written on the overclockers forum and Atmos80 did ask me to contact them through the Trust message, I apprised him of my inability to do so, am still to hear from him. And I just signed up again earlier today, so there's no question of being inactive. Should I still need to get in touch with Atmos80 then I may impose on U.

Once again, thank U for Ur kind offer and input. Trust me, I love this laptop (on the outside, design wise) and wish to own it too, if I could be sold a similar laptop as Urs, I'd be willing to do it right away. The ironic thing, I'm not going to use it to play games at all, I just love the design so much that I wished to buy it, sadly so far I'm merely left in the lurch. Two faulty and unusable laptops in a row... one too many.

If I may, do U have any information on the major differences between the X7 v6 and the forthcoming X7 v7... I'm waiting for the next release, hoping and assuming that it will be a better version and the keyboard issue will have been resolved. I did read somewhere that they are changing the keyboard, not sure if that's a fact or more a forlorn wish or mere speculation. If U could shed some light, please.

    Thank U.
