Yes, but that's with a much faster CPU and two GPUs that're each around 40% faster than the 765Ms in the V1. So yeah... the price is justified.

I play SC:Blacklist, Thief, Skyrim (with 2k HD pack), Hawken, and some others like TF2 and CS.
I'm gonna finish downloading Titanfall on Origin and I can post back on the results if you want.

Had my X7 V2 for a few days now - great laptop!
Excellent build quality
Very sleek and slim design
Great screen
Great keyboard
Plays everything I throw at it so far perfectly
Speakers are loud and sound crisp, great bass too
Enjoying the feel of the glass trackpad
Cons:
Charger cable is really short
Trackpad doesn't seem to have the ability to scroll
Other than that, would definately recommend to someone after a 17" gaming laptop -
location? thinking of upgrading my v1. -
It's available here: Aorus X7 v2-CF1 17.3" LED TFT, Intel Core i7-4860HQ, 16GB DDR3, 3x128 SSD RAID, 1TB HDD, Dual NVIDIA GTX 860M SLI - Windows 8.1 [X7 v2-CF1]
£1,750 is a bit steep, you really have to value the thin and light aspect. 17" at 3kgs is great, but the dual M290X crossfire in the P37XSM Clevo will smoke the 860M SLI for a very similar price (matching almost every component).
What could I do physically with the Aorus that I couldn't do with the Clevo? I don't think the 1.6kg difference in travel weight (inc. power adapter) is worth the drop in performance, but maybe this is what other people have been waiting for.
The Gigabyte P25X and Clevo P15XSM with the 880M will provide a more consistent "high-end" performance as they are single GPU, they are in a similar weight class (2.8-3.1kg), but the sacrifice here is 1.7" in screen real-estate.
You can never have too many options, I guess. -
are the clevo's an all aluminum chassis with comparable build quality?

Aorus X7 V2 CF-1 is available for pre-order at ExcaliberPC at $2,299
AORUS X7 v2-CF1 17.3" Ultra Gaming Laptop. AORUS X7 v2-CF1
However, guys there are 2 things consider me to hold on. They have downgraded the CPU and Mhz of the RAM. In Aorus advertisement, the base model should have;
CPU: Intel i7 4860HQ but in pre-order it is specified as 4710HQ
RAM: 1866 Mhz but in pre-order it is specified as 1600 Mhz
What you guys think about it? Did they simply change the GPU on the older case or what? -
They could have the specs confused with the 13 inch model, as far as I know all v2's come with the 4860HQ and 16Gb of 1866mhz ram. I placed an order for one yesterday from overclockers.co.uk, should be here within the week.

Gigabyte Aorus X7 v2 review | Gaming Laptop Reviews
New review is up. Apparently there are units out there with a 4710HQ, however the retail units should all contain the 4860HQ.byunjoe likes this. -
So I just got mine! Unfortunately it has a small cluster of dead pixels (Not stuck pixels, these are black) in the left center quadrant of the screen so I am already in the process of returning it for what I hope to be a replacement with no screen issues. Feel really sad doing so the laptop seems great and was planning on taking it on my trip with me next week.
I must say I was surprised at how light and thin it is given what its packing inside. The trackpad felt really weird at first but after using it for an hour or so I really like it, prefer it actually to your typical trackpad.
Keyboard isn't that great IMO, screen quality is pretty meh as well but I am coming from macbooks so I have set the bar quite high. However overall I really like the device, but I have yet to run a single game on it as thats where it will most undoubtly excel vs most laptops with similar dimensions. -

Edit: sorry thought that question was for me lol, either way now you have an idea of how well it runs games. -
Anyone know what's going on with the American retailers? GenTechPC's page is gone, and ExcaliberPC lists it as "Discontinued".
-
They probably just put the pages up too early. My guess is this won't be out until sometime in late August and they're not taking pre-orders yet so they've just taken down the pages or labeled them as discontinued to keep people from pre-ordering them.
-
I just tried Titanfall and got 43.142fps average in multiplayer (15min match). This is everything maxed out, including 'Insane' textures and trilinear filtering. In another map I got around 37.877fps. Pretty good IMO.
Not sure about the battery life as I usually leave it plugged in both at home at work. But I think it lasts around 3 to 4 hours doing office work and web browsing. You can check up notebookreview.com or notebookcheck.com for more detailed information though.
Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply; been super busy with work this past couple weeks. If you have any further questions, just PM me as I don't frequent these boards so often anymore.

Played South Park, Batman Arkham Origins and Watchdogs so far
They all ran exceptionally without any issues - very happy -
Laptop is now available for purchase and shipping on newegg it seems. I think I'll be getting one of these..
-
It's also up on Xotic too (with an ETA of late July)...but still not back on Gentech or ExcaliberPC.
-
How hot does this get? I would think with dual Kepler 860ms its gonna get pretty toasty...
-
So i just picked up this laptop on booting it up it had a black background and i noticed a slight patch that was less black..
On doing a black screen test on left hand side of screen starting about half way down going to the bottom on a slight angle and 2cm wide.. there is what looks like a whiter patch. It doesnt seem to be light bleed though as i can see minimal light bleed around the edges?
Does anyone know if this is worthy of a RMA is quite annoying for a brand new panel. -
Man, I pre-ordered it on GenTech and when they removed the page, I sent an e-mail and they said the release date would be the 2014/08/03. Hopefully, it is so...
Also I did ask GenTech to customize the X7 so waiting a bit more would be normal. But it is just the silence that worries me. -
The trackpad can scroll. Open your Mouse Settings, click the Elan tab, then Options. There are videos to demonstrate all the gesture options; use two fingers together scroll. A "pinch" will zoom. -
I received my x7 v2 from NewEgg yesterday. I am happy with it so far except for one thing: 13 dead pixels. Not stuck, just dead/black.
I just sent in the replacement request and will let you know how it goes.
Everyone that has received yours, open to a white screen and look. Is your screen good to go???
I shouldn't have 13 dead pixels on a $2300 laptop. I noticed one other poster on this thread had this issue as well. I hope I get lucky and get a replacement free of defects!
Also, has anyone considered replacing the panel themselves? I upgraded my G73 from a 780p (BestBuy version) to 1080p panel and it wasn't that difficult... Anyone know if there will be a panel of higher resolution (which is also compatible with the x7) available in the future? If I could do that I wouldn't even care about the dead pixels because this is a pretty average screen to begin with. -

can you tell me if this 860 sli its maxwell? and if nvidia optimized sli mobile for gaming? because dont work in many games thanks

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!

I've been thinking about picking this laptop up. My biggest concern right now is the noise levels. Anyone able to give their comments on how noisy the fans are? I've heard people both state they are loud and they aren't bad. Would like a couple more people's input before I make the final choice.
Those dual 860M's seem like they would have some really great performance for a laptop. -
I wrote a short review in one of the other threads here. I had an MSI Dominator Pro for a few days before switching to the Aorus X7 v2. The fans on this machine are much quieter than the MSI, and they are a less annoying pitch (not so whiny). The MSI would actually make my ears ring after sitting in front of it for any length of time. Not so with the Aorus. That said, they are not quiet at full speed. If you are recording audio or something and need quiet fans these will probably be too loud.
The laptop is great though. The SLI 860s are great and I've had no problems with them so far.

what can you tell me about this laptop vs high end asus rog, alienware alw or msi gt72? worth the money? thanks
-
Quick question guys: how do I make a recovery media for the X7? Usually there is a pop-up that reminds you to make a recovery media as you use the laptop the first few times.
-
-
There's no reason to go for this machine right now, not with the new Maxwell GPUs right around the corner. the 970M is already going to trump the 880M without an issue and draws less power anyway.
Again, for whatever reason, Aorus is behind the curve AGAIN. Disappointing... I wanted to buy this damned thing already! -
PS: I think SLI Kelper 860M will be similar performance with 970M. .but I guess AORUS will announce another new laptop (maybe X5?) with the new 970/980. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
nope. the sli 860m are close to the 880m, which is considerably less powerful from the leaks of the 970m
-
Finally I returned my X7v2 on the 7th day after purchase, because I found 4 dead pixels on the screen~
Luckily~ it just happen before the GTX 970/980m revealed... Now save the money for the laptops with new GPU (probably X7v3? with 970m sli) -
