I already posted this to the Aorus forum and thought maybe you guys could help me out.
Hello, I just got my X5 V7 about two weeks ago. I love it... Loved it, until it started ****ting the bed. First, the keyboard backlighting stopped working. I tried going into Fusion, and it wouldn't do anything like it was frozen. I updated the Fusion software, still nothing. Then, the keyboard started typing the wrong letters, and just didn't work at all. It would type an "r" if I typed "e" and so on and so forth. I tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, system restore, even a FACTORY RESET and still nothing. I'm really not happy with it because not only did I lose all of my Aorus software (in which I cannot for the life of me find online so I'm screwed), but the damned keyboard still doesn't work. The customer service doesn't answer calls on weekends and Microsoft told me to get back to them after I called Aorus. I bought it through XOTIC so I might just ask for a new one. I'm really pissed. I spent way too much money for this to not work.

THAT IS EXACTLY IT! Thank you! I downloaded that software and it says failed to connect. Also, do you know where I can find where to download Aorus fusion and the update center and all that crap again? It was deleted when I factory reset my machine.

I had a VERY hard time finding where to download from Aorus. Did you do the 'Aorus factory reset"? When booting and press f9 there should be an option for factory reset through windows and a option for reseting to Aorus defaults. When I did the Aorus one it restored all the programs.

usually on the first screen. would be easiest to do aorus factory reset... however I found the drivers. Go to the X5 V7 product page on aorus website. Click on 'Downloads' just below the laptop photo gallery. Under 'Utilities' there is the 1.1.7 keyboard firmware. see if that gets your keyboard functioning again....

Late reply and i hope you got your keyboard working.

But i had the same issue as you did so maybe you could try what i did:

Before you run the firmware, just keep pressing any key on your keyboard. It should register the AP but it wouldn't be functional just yet. Run the firmware update while doing so and it should go through. Took me a while to get my firmware working but managed to use that to get it up and running again

Sorry to bump an older thread- but does anyone else have any suggestions/experience with this problem?

I have a new x5 MD and out of the box the keyboard did not work (no backlight, no key inputs work, nothing at all). I have tried installing the new drivers whilst pressing a key but that does not seem to be achieving results either. Is there a way to check to make sure the keyboard is plugged in (from the accessible side of the motherboard), so that I can at least check that before I have to return it?

    That is strange.

Unfortunately given the lack of anyone who has done a full teardown of a v7/MD, it would be safe to assume that the keyboard is connected on the other side of the motherboard and a full removal of it would be necessary to get at the keyboard cables. Since Aorus decided to make the whole keyboard/top deck one unit rather than keep it separate like they did on the v6 lineup, replacing a dead keyboard means replacing the whole top of your unit
