Hello everyone!
I just got my Aorus x5 V6 (had to return a x7 V6 DT because "E" key and "End" keys were activating all on their own).
Everything about the X5 V6 is great, except my wifi card disconnects when I load into Overwatch. I can do speed tests before going into the game and I get 30 Ping, 30 mb download, 20 mb upload. But as soon as I load into a match. The Killer Wireless 1535 freaks out. I get massive lag spikes and disconnect very quickly upon the GPU and CPU getting an increased load. I noticed another review on NewEgg that had the exact same issue. The person ended up returning it after troubleshooting it a ton.
I have uninstalled the preinstalled driver. I have reinstalled the driver from Aorus. I have installed the driver from Killer's website. I have tried just letting windows install the driver after uninstalling the drivers from Device Manager. The other person with this issue also did a clean install of Windows 10.
I read on another forum post for an Alienware 15 that it is because of Killer Wireless's driver being unable to install correctly with Windows 10.
Here is the NewEgg of the person with a similar issue:
I will be returning this if I can't figure this out. Shame. Such an amazing laptop.

Did you reinstall the bare driver? A lot of people managed to solve their problems by removing the killer suite

this should be it. -
What happens is Overwatch loads into a server. I have a ping of 150 (should be 80 to central servers). Then as soon as the game starts, lag spikes up to 1500-3000 until disconnection happens 20-60 seconds later (or sooner).
Before I updated my drivers to the latest ones, the driver would crash as overwatch was loading into the main menu. The updated drivers at least "helped" a little, but it is still completely unusable. -

I had a Aorus x7 V6 DT and it had the Killer 1535, and it ran without any issues on the same network. It had a clean install of Windows 10 from XoticPC (but it had other issues with the keyboard + screen interlacing on 3k display).bwolmarans likes this. -

I am with Killer Networking. We have had some other reports of some Intel Skylake based platforms (Intel i7-6000 series) having wireless drops after updating to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. We have reproduced this in our test lab and are having our driver developers work on a fix now.
In the meantime, you can load an older Wireless driver via Device Manager. We have confirmed that moving to a driver-only installation will resolve this issue, but will disable all network prioritization. You can download the latest driver-only package here:
http://www.killernetworking.com/driver-downloads/item/killer-drivers-64bit
Edit 9/6/2017 - We have now confirmed that nearly all of our users are able to solve this issue by updating the firmware on their router, as the router manufacturers have corrected the issue on their end. However, if you should need to use the driver-only solution, I have updated the link. --Anthony with Killer Networking

A clean install should had helped. Personally, I got rid 99% of my disconnects by uninstalling Killer Performance Suite and improved my micro-scattering situation by uninstalling most of the bloatware that came with the laptop (MSI GS43VR, which I am returning due to the scattering and dead pixels).Last edited: Jan 8, 2017 -
Unfortunately, as you may find in the GS43VR, GS63VR/GS73VR, Razer Blade, AW13, etc etc owners' lounges that the issue loading an older driver is that Windows will overwrite that. Only solution is to stop Windows automatic drivers updates, which is unacceptable in my opinion.
Unfortunately, the biggest issue, in my view, which is the micro-stuttering. Using LatencyMon multiple people (again over various forums), included myself, identified the wireless card drivers as the culprit --when switching to Ethernet and disabling the wireless card, things are fine. It appears that Killer's wireless driver causes a high amount of CPU calls, some with high DCP execution time introducing delays. Users in the MSI and AW13 forums, who switched to an Intel WiFi card reported noticeable improvement --if not, complete cure- from the problem. Can you confirm if the next driver or at least that you aware of this? -
Its a very intriguing issue, this whole Killer driver thing. My friend's P650RSG is running the same 1535 card on windows 10 post anniversary update and its working perfectly fine. Using the latest drivers too.

I am communicating to the Killer rep over email now.
I installed the older driver as mentioned in his post, but now the I can't load into an Overwatch game before the internet is completely disconnected. I am afraid this driver doesn't work either. OR as Athonline mentioned, it might be because windows is overwriting the older driver. I am not sure.
This is how it was performing before updating to the latest Killer Performance Suite. With the latest performance suite, it at least loaded into the game for a little while with extremely high pings (starting at 150 ms, to 3000 ms, to disconnected after 30-60 seconds). Now it loses signal before it can even load into a game (I believe its the load of running the 3D background that Overwatch uses for its menus that crashes the wireless before getting into a actual match).Athonline likes this. -

I had this issue, turns out that it is a combination of old drivers and the Killer bandwidth control service that cause this issue.
The drivers on the Aorus website/Driver download app is old, download the latest of Killers website.hmscott likes this. -

I think for now, the best solution that i have seen is to uninstall the Killer Suite and just use the bare drivers until the whole issue with the Win 10 anniversary update is resolved. As usual this is a YMMV case.

For the people having issues w/windows reinstalling the driver after you delete it, make sure you have the box checked to delete the driver software as well:
What will happen is that windows will attempt to reinstall it again, but will only have older driver software (4.??), so when you go to use the driver that Thomas provided, it will be seen as an upgrade and will be accepted.
Let's hope the Killer team can get a new driver out there that works this time!hmscott likes this. -

Hi folks - we have just posted a new wireless driver and software suite that addresses a known issue on a small percentage of systems where the Killer Wireless module will drop the WiFi connection when passing a large amount of traffic. We have worked closely with Microsoft on this, and have identified a fix. This fix has been confirmed with several users that currently have the issue and we have posted a new software package. Please visit the link below to get the new driver:

I have just powered on hour ago my new x5 v6 from newegg the 120hz screen model.
The killer wifi was very slow.
I updated to this new driver mentioned below here in march 2nd post.
Now my driver under hardware manager is 12.0.0.296 but same problem network very slow.
my other laptops are very fast on same access point.
but this one with killer is very slow.
Obvously I cannot use the laptop like this.
Can somebody provide a fix quickly?
If not, I will return laptop to newegg again and refer them to this thread as reason for the return.

Have you tried disabling Bandwidth allocation or just using the bare driver without the Network manager software?

removed kill suite, rebooted.
confirmed old driver from 2016.
installed new bare driver from link you posted ( thank you for linke ) and rebooted and confirmed new driver 12.0.0.296
it make zero difference, same problem, all a big waste of time.
I have pm'd the killer rep on this forum, and I will wait 48 hrs.
I have left VM for Aorus USA support.
I have left support ticket on Aorus support website.
But it this is not resolved in 48 hours then I am sending this back to newegg and getting a refund this time, not a replacement, and I will be getting my 2nd choice which was the sager.
For now, the X5 v6 is powered off, back in it's bag and back in the box it came in.Last edited: Mar 10, 2017 -

Sometimes debugging like this works, sometimes not - incompatibilities vary across routers, AP's, etc to specific Wifi cards and environments...
Did you check your router for a firmware update? Go directly to the vendor site, don't rely on the autoupdate on the router. Check the forums if there are others complaining about 1535 compatibility with your router / AP.
I didn't see anyone suggest checking for the Wifi landscape - what other AP's are sharing your channel?
Use a tool like inSSIDer 3.x (still free), to see what channel is clear for you to set your router / AP. Quite often channel 3 / 6 is default and all it takes is 2 or 3 other routers to be on the same channel to put your Wifi off stable.
http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html
You might want to move from 2.4ghz to 5.0ghz to avoid congestion too.
If all else fails, if you otherwise like the laptop, swap out the OEM Wifi card with what at the time is the most successful Wifi card for compatibility, and that would be the Intel 8265. Either you can do that or get a vendor to swap it for you.
Until you can organize the Wifi card swap, get a USB Wifi dongle - if possible the matching Wifi dongle from the same maker as your AP / Router wifi. That way you can be sure it's compatible.
I wouldn't return and give up on a laptop I really like just because the Wifi card isn't compatibleimprowise likes this. -
I appreciate your reply. But I'm not sure it makes sense, although everything you mentioned has some merit and I sincerely appreciate your effort to respond with useful information. First of all it is much easier to simply download and run little free wifi analyzer app on android phone, works great. And using that analyzer app I can see that the only item I have on the same channel is a Roku but please understand this is not and should never be this complicated. Try to follow my logic here: I have a single band verizon fios wifi router that works perfectly well today and has worked perfectly well for at least the past two years in my house with the following: 2 x dell laptops, 1 x lenovo laptop, 3 x android tablets, 3 x android phones. So what is so special about this Aorus laptop that I have to now change my wifi network? And even if I were to do that, which I am obviously not going to do, what if I go to different location including personal reason ( friend house ) and business reason ( various small business ) would you suggest I ask each business or friend house I go into to change their wifi to accomodate my Aorus laptop? No you would not suggest that, because that would not make sense. And likewise it does not make sense that I should change my perfectly good wifi network in my house because of some bugs on this laptop wifi. I hope that all makes sense. It is really making me frustrated because this is the perfect laptop believe me, this laptop is so much better than other options ( closest would be new sager 8157 ) there is no competition. I think this thread is going to go nowhere. I have emailed killer support directly after finding their email from the facebook chat on their facebook page. Aorus tech support suggest I take laptop to starbucks and try it there which I will do although I don't want to put any mark or tiny scratch on laptop so I have not moved it since last night it is still sitting on the bag it came in. Maybe Aorus tech support is right and it will work fine at Starbucks. Although again, what does that prove? See my points above about the nonsense of having a laptop that only works in some wifi networks and not others. Imagine if a macbook or a dell laptop worked like that.

But, I do understand the frustration. I've dealt with the reality for so long I accept it without a second thought.
If Wifi isn't working, there is a reason, and my thought process starts with "what is the least software / hardware change I can make right now to get online and back to the real focus of my time?"
Usually I pull out a dongle I know is compatible with the observed AP / router, plug it in to an extended USB cable to get better reception, and get back to work.
Arguing with IT staff about how it should work vs. the fact that it doesn't work is a sure way to be shown the door, I've seen it happen to others.
Usually they get that functionally focused change of mind before the door hits their ass and they turn around and keep their job, but not all the time.
When it comes to home, recreational use, some get their frustrations out throwing a hissy fit - making the world rotate around them - instead of taking the responsibility to make their environment adapt to fit the new hardware.
It's a POV issue - center of the universe is mis-placed - reset and get real, and fix it.
Now, I'm not being overcritical with you to chase you away, I'm hitting you over the forehead with a 2x4 so you can wake up and avoid returning a perfectly good laptop because of something that you can fix at your end.
Pick a different center channel for your Wifi, or change bands, update your router, you already have the latest "no drop" drivers from Killer, and see if that helps. Turn off Bluetooth to see if that's interfering - I've seen designs where this happens.
Someone else also mentioned problems with distance connecting with their Aorus, and they think it might be a poor internal antenna. You can get a USB extension cable - mines 3 meters - and put the dongle on the end to place high and into a good reception zone outside the laptop.
And, then do some research on how to swap your internal Wifi card - and maybe look for new antenna wires to connect to the card that you can dress internally for better distance. The 1535 has a larger range than the 8260 - I haven't seen a comparison with the 8265 yet.
And, remember, this is supposed to be fun -
OK so I just got back from Starbucks. No problem on their 2.4 or 5Ghz band AP's.I mean, they have slow internet, maybe 8Mb/s, but that's a lot faster than what I am getting on my home router around 256Kb/s. edit: I have fios 50/50. my old dell m4300 workstation sitting next to the x5 gets about 30Mb/s downloading from fast sites. I am back home here with the aorus is is getting about 256Kb/s. Ridiculous.
So the Aorus tech was right; it is something with my fios router and 1535 killer. I am going to call verizon/frontier and ask them if they can send me a new router. If they cannot I am gong to buy an intel m.2 wifi card and put that in.
Also I have to eat my words this does happen certainly with dell, obviously many manufacturer have problem with this killer rivet chip such as this example http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19660087
Well, as fast as slow Starbucks Google internet is about 8Mb/s, but that's a massive improvement over 256Kb/s to 512Kb/s at my house

After many years of ever changing Wifi protocols, I now look forward to new Wifi technology in my laptops / phone / appliance, as it's an opportunity to get a cool new router, maybe even a new cable modem with higher speed internet, Wifi dongles, and an enjoyable time learning new protocol features and their optimal tuning.
Please come back and let us know how it all works out -
Wow.
So now what? Does that mean it's not a software issue? Is it an antenna issue ( antenna usually have a lot to do with range )
Should I open the laptop and see if maybe the attenae are not connected properly to the card or prehaps are not routed properly?
Would that mean I can't return it to newegg if I open it?hmscott likes this. -
You say you have a ROKU box on the same channel, I would try powering that off first. They are streaming boxes, probably while in use fighting for the channel, and perhaps keeping connection all the time - which might interfere.
I know it's likely still antenna issues - but I like to remove "all" the other possibilities first before spending too much time fixing something that might not *require* fixing.
Your router could have a weak signal, perhaps set to lowest output on purpose by the original installation - even cheap routers usually have 3 settings, Low, Med, High - and some have entries for precise settings including decimal points. Try checking your router for a power setting.
Your Windows setup has a power plan Advanced settings, disable all network power down or power saving options - set for high performance.
Check your wifi adapter in Windows Network Control panel - Adapter settings - and see if there are power settings there - turn off power saving settings.
It's funny you can have a great signal, and good speed, and then the Windows Power settings will up and power off the Wifi in mid transfer just because...
You do know you can pick your own router - you don't need to pay the ISP monthly for the router / (cable) modem - that way you have control over both devices and can make changes and improvements independent of the ISP.
You may need to register the MAC address of the connected (cable) modem with the ISP so they allow it to connect to their network - you can do that on the phone in real time - read out the MAC address on the sticker on the bottom of the modem or router if the modem is built in.
When you get through all of these, let me know what you changed and what effects overall it has.Last edited: Mar 10, 2017 -

Any new laptop will have their own peculiar idiosyncrasies, but all will run Windows, connect to the same AP, and have the same or similar issues Wifi issues - the same tuning applies.
You might as well dig in and get through it all now.
We'll still be here if you change your mind, and when you get your next laptop remember to check out those Windows / Router / Wifi adapter tuning steps for use with it too -
Thank you for the encouragement, and especially what you said about expectations and reality which applies not just to laptops but to life as well. I just want to clarify I do not consider having to sit within 3 meter of access point a solution ( I would like to meet the person that considers that a solution, they must have god-like patience and flexibility )
-
Interference on your current 2.4ghz default channel might not show up on Wifi sniffer program, baby monitors, other private survellience, wireless phones, microwave, and more can all interfere with Wifi on 2.4ghz.
5ghz has the problem of penetration, it can only cover in room and shallow wall room to room coverage.
WiGig on 60ghz used for device or docking wireless connections are even shorter range than 5ghz, closer than you are experiencing with 3 meter distance
Did you get a chance to check power output level settings on the router / wifi card (Prefer High Performance in stead of power saving) - I think even Windows power plan High Performance still has power saving settings enabled.
You might try moving from channel 1/ 3 / 6 default to another channel. Channel 11 works well for me, but it might take you a couple of tries. I understand your ISP provided router / AP might not make that change available to you, but you can ask the ISP to change the power and channel settings - you could ask them to setup the new router/AP as such.
You could also get a 2.4ghz/5ghz USB dongle to try to compare distance coverage, if that is limited in the same way that would help support the interference or low power as being the problem. I do recall you saying your Dell has the same problems - was it distance limited too for full performance? That would indicate an interference or power limit on the router as well.
I have run into laptops with poor internal antennas, so that is also still a possibility, but you can't verify that just by guessing, you need to try external Wifi dongles to compare to isolate the problem.
I see you are going to try for a few more days, have an 8260 coming (why not a 8265?), and Killer is still in the loop.
I'm looking forward to seeing your fix to the problem -
Well, thank you. But there is no problem with my home wifi to fix, so I can't fix a problem that doesn't exist.
As per my original post, I have 6 different devices using my wifi all over the house even i the back and front yard with no problem for years, people visit my house and have never had an issue, therefore, just going by basic facts, there is no problem with my wifi, clearly.
However, there is clearly something wrong with the WiFi on this laptop, again, going by basic facts.
I am not disputing that all the recommendations you are making may help - they may indeed help. But with the exception of replacing the card with another brand, they are all messy workarounds.
I am just making it perfectly clear that none this should be necessary if Aorus and/or Killer had done their job.
But thank you all the same, always good to get interesting information.

Just because other things are working fine doesn't lump a big FAIL on another device that needs tuning, and you don't know what the problem is yet either.
So far Wifi hasn't stopped me from doing my job or getting through a Wifi bottleneck, and I did that by getting my hands messy digging in to solve the problem, and learning what's what about each of the components, and getting the most out of them.
It's really not that hard or messy, and once you give it a try you'll find it's well worth the efforts.
If you don't want to be troubled to do tuning and troubleshooting then that's fine, many don't, and they send back their laptops and find something else.
