    Greetings people!

I'm an Italian student searching for a new laptop for the coming graduation.

I recently decided to take the Aero 15X v8 ,looks great and has the power I need for both work and gaming, along with portability (I am a bioinformatician, therefore I like to have extra juice for both programming or computationally expensive task,no video editing sure but still :D ).
However, Gigabyte has no sellers in my country so I've been looking online for international sellers thus I've been looking at GentechPC and HIDEvolution.
I've browsed both sites thoroughly, HIDEvolution seems to really good, but for me is the worst choice due to the quite consistent tax fee (more than 500$) on top of the laptop, so I decided to stick with GentechPC which is more merciful.

If I may ask an opinion on both the seller (GentechPC reputation ) and the upgrades I should
stick with that can guarantee me longevity and performance if they are to be done (the only thing I know looking at reviews and other posts on the matter, is that such laptop gets really hot on both CPU and GPU).
In general, I have seen negative reviews on the application of liquid metal of both components especially if you travel a lot (I'll be moving a lot between London and Copenaghen for work :S), best to use it on a desktop.

Since I want to make the best of my money , 2200 € ( all my savings plus something extra from my parents :D ), I wanted to hear from you guys!

In the end, if not convenient , I would gladly ask for suggestions on other laptops, but I have to stick with the mentioned sites or Amazon (Italy sucks for this kind of things -.-) .

Thanks you all for your time and sorry for the babbling!

You mentioned “Or Amazon.” 100 percent go with Amazon. They have the best/easiest return policy and almost always the quickest shipping. Plus you can get 5 percent back with their Visa card. I just got my Aero 15x 4k from them a few days ago and am loving it.

There is a catch with Amazon , I have to order it on other Amazon.com or Amazon.uk due to the fact that no store on Amazon.it does have it . Moreover stores on both amazons are either out of order for the 1080 p model or imply heavy taxes which surpasses my budget :( .
This is mostly the reason I choose to go with such resellers , strangely I do not exceed my budget and I can modify it,anyway I agree that Amazon is indeed more flexible with such things.
Before I likely express myself badly, very sorry!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying it ! For the temperature, it is a problem so far? Given the cost I want something that does not burn after a year :p, I saw that undervolting partially resolves the problem.

    Thanks again for your support!

Gentech doesn't seem to be replying to emails for the past couple weeks. I would suggest calling them on their toll free number (you can use google hangouts on your computer if you want to call the number).
I ordered my Aero 14v6 from them, and they were great, so I have no issues recommending them (though this was in the US)

Yeah well regarding London , my job there starts in September and in December I'll move to Copenaghen so I would like to have the laptop before moving here and thereif possible :) (doesnt seems like it damn you Italy!) .

If I'll try PCgentech what upgrades would you recommend for such a laptop? I mean the temperature has me worried,I this robust laptop to last at least 4 years and it has all the characteristics necessary, on paper at least .

Or in the end, you suggest to completely search for another thing completely? Laptop of the same caliber as Razer Blade and MSI 65 thin share the same problems, so from my humble point of view the alternative are equal in such matter , but since I'm entering such magnificent world I'm kinda a newbie :p

Anyway I want to thanks all again for your supports! You have been very kind and available to help !

Stock parts are pretty decent. I would recommend taking on their *free* thermal paste applications (advise against Liquid Metal, something like Kryonaut should be good enough) for better thermals!
Check out what kind of RAM and SSD they're providing.

I'm in a very similar situation ans I'm also not decided if going for the Aero or the Razer Blade.
Are you shure that there won't be any custom fee if we order from gentechPC?

Well then, I'm gonna attach the link to their page because it's bit long and don't want to make a huge post, bothering enough people as it is :D

    https://www.gentechpc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=AERO-15X-V8-BK4-Build

The only thing I need to ensure is how the warranty works from Italy/Europe since I'll be moving around like a nomad, I think that eventually send back the laptop in the US is gonna be on my shoulder, but for the rest, should be on theirs.
For now I have heard only good things, besides reply on email take a little while, but I am guessing that is because of the summer, I don't know :p

This is wht they replied me when I've specifically asked for the warranty and the import taxes:
"all Gigabyte laptops are covered with 2 year Global Warranty and they have service center in Europe. so if you have issues Gigabyte service center in Europe will take care of it.

Regarding taxes, I do believe your local customs will collect import taxes from you upon delivery."

Another catch then! Every way I turn I see taxes
HIDevolution charges you immediately whilst Gentech afterward, bad situation :(

I 'm afraid that for now, I have to put aside such machine, sincerely I really like but I cannot pay almost 3000$ due to taxes when the stock price is around 2000/2500$, it is not right, besides I do not have the money so :p
I'll definitely keep an eye out though! If a have the opportunity I'll grab it

However if have the urgency to buy an alternative (my currently pc is ok for now but I see signs of imminent death and i need something to work) , what would you suggest for the same spec/portability/ built?
If I can find any store/internet seller here in my retard country that has it :/ , man I love Italy but regarding job and computer stuff (besides politics of course) is sooooo bad

Maybe the alternative is to buy from a UK store an unmodified version and then do the mods by ourselves. Doesn't seem so complicated.

I now, I also come from Italy and I had to move to Switzerland to find a decent job.

Yup seems like it damn you italy!I think I saw the laptop on amazon.es (spain) this morning at 2399 euros , I'm gonna ask about warranty , shipping etc... , but if all it's good I'm probably gonna take it ... I think the price is fair ,maybe a little too expensive , but I mean I think it's worth it in the long run .
    What do you guys suggest?

Yeah man, Italy is a fine place , but right now it's better moving somewhere else and return when you are old to enjoy your pension

The problem is the keyboard then. In the comments people say that it comes with the spanish layout, not the international one.

Argh! That is pretty bad indeed , well for now I can buy no laptop , money will come with graduation , but I'll find some store! UK seems the only choice now :/

If there any alternatives by all mean I'm quite open to suggestions :) and it is nice talking to people that understand this and are willing to listen!

Hey , Im in a predicament and need your help. Im getting my cousin to buy Asus ROG SCAR II from the USA and he will be getting it to India(where I live). I decided to purchase from HIDEvolution as gentech PC does not always have good reviews. Have you had any experience with HIDevolution or gentechPC ?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Sourabh.
