I already have a Crucial MX300 (1TB) and planning now to add a second (970 Evo 500GB)
Should I clone the system from the crucial to the Samsung? Since the Samsung is significantly faster, that should be recommended. Anyone did this before?
Does the 970 Evo in generall do fine on the Aero 15?

I have a 970 EVO 1TB as my only drive and it works great.
You can definitely do a clone, but you will need to first shrink your windows partition on the 1TB so that it may fit on the 500GB drive. you can use something like macrium reflect to do that. -
Thanks for your feedback! I am considering installing the system (win 10) freshly on the new disk. How do I do that? (unfortunately i didnt use the USB backup)

EZPZ. Just download the windows 10 media creation kit from here. Install that on a usb drive (8GB or higher). It will delete everything on the drive, so make sure there's nothing important on it.
Once its installed, you will reboot your computer. When the screen first flashes there is a prompt at the bottom of the screen that has a boot options button. Press that button (will be a function key), then choose your flash drive. Follow the instructions to image your new drive and you'll be good to go. It will automatically activate your system as well. Be sure to delete your old partition so it doesn't try to dual boot both windows installs. -
Ah, i finally start to understand, the media creation kit pulls the serial info from the computer it is installed on, right? Ok, Will try to do that! Thanks! Looks as if I need to get another backup drive to safe the data of my current drive.

Yeah basically. Windows 10 installs are tied to their host machine now, so you can reinstall and as long you are using the same motherboard it will automatically activate.

I haven't got any perceivable speedup by migrating to a 970 EVO compared to the MX300(both half size in my case).
So, I'd suggest to save yourself quite a bit of time and just stick the EVO in as a secondary data drive. -
Not as drastic as the benchmark, but still.
Maybe its better to install the system fresh on the EVO, instead of migrating? -
I figure for stuff like on-drive file duplication, yes, the EVO will be faster, but you shouldn't notice a change in regular system usage.
I added a 1TB WD Black (the model released in April), as a secondary for downloads, torrents, and game installs. Extracts rar files ridiculously quick.
I also do system images every time I'm testing drivers, an it helps to have the image be less than 50GB, since that's all I've used on the C, as opposed to the 200GB I've used on the WD.
