Hi,
I recently noticed that if I plug an external USB 3.0 drive (harddisk, ssd, usb stick) into the 'upper' USB 3.0 port on the right side, the Wifi connection does not work anymore. When the device is removed Wifi is back online again. If I put the device into the other USB 3.0 port (the one towards the Thunderbolt Port) the Wifi is working without any issues.
Can anyone confirm this, or is this just my model?
Cheers

no, i think that it's not a problem with your model, it's a feature of this hideous laptop. on my aero 15 the wifi stops when i'm using an hdd on a usb 3 port.
anyway, the wifi on this laptop is insanely slow, i receive half of the bandwidth that i receive with any other model, and i already tried dozens of driver versions, old ones to the latest. i'm not sure if we can replace the internal wifi adapter but meanwhile i'm going to buy an usb wifi adapter.
this laptop is a mess. i really hate it :\ -
You can definitely replace the WiFi card in the laptop. As for the issue, I have never experienced it, and I have all my USB ports occupied atm.

I'll buy it from you
In all seriousness, I haven't heard of anyone besides you two having that issue. -
i have no problem using a mouse or a keyboard on a usb port, i only have problems when i connect a hdd.
anyway, if i can replace the wifi i'm going to search for some alternative on ebay.
i also need to replace my screen because the laptop they sold me have a lot of banding problems. but looks like most people got screens with banding and bleed problems. -
Just tried that config, everything still works fine. Try opening your laptop up and see if there are any wires being tangled? I know there's a super low chance of that happening, but it might help (since the WiFi card is also on the right side).
EDIT: If you are changing the display, why not just get a replacement unit? There's a better chance of not having those issues on a different unit.Last edited: Nov 9, 2017 -
I reported all the problems i have with this hateful laptop about 3 days after I bought it. The gigabyte dealer couldn't replace my laptop because it was the first and only one available on my country, so they suggested me to send it to repair. but i saw a lot of videos and forums with people alerting that they all received the laptop in worst conditions, and i saw people with screens much worst than mine, so i decided to try to repair it my self.
the wifi seems easy to replace, i'm just a little worried about replacing the screen, but i really need to do that because i bought this for work anywhere and i'm stuck with an external monitor.
anyway... i'm going to check the cables first. thanks for the tip

I am sorry to resurrect this old thread,
I also have an Aero 15, and wifi has been a mess right from the start. Disconnecting mostly, never had this kind of problem with Asus. Tried several driver versions, to no avail. Even contacted support, but that's a disaster for another discussion. Could you guys recommend a compatible, reliable wifi card I can buy to replace factory card on Aero 15?
Thank you in advance. -
Im getting this issue aswell with the USB3 on the right side to the rear of the laptop, was fine before the last windows update - it works as a USB2 or for Thumbdrives - hope there will be a driver update soon from Gigabyte to match.
In regards to your wifi this is also a driver issue - disable include Drivers in Windows Updates (as its intel). The current driver as of 18th July 2018 that works correctly is the 19.50.1.6
I had issues with the latest driver disconnecting/reconnecting 19.70.0.5 -
Hi,
Do you guys know where I can download 19.50.1.6 driver?
I got constant wifi issue and find no solution
Thanks -
Now my top right USB port doesn't work with anything but my hard drive xD
