    Hi All,

I have the AORUS X5v6 in my sig. Is there a way to make it use the gpu on the 6820HK rather than the 1070?

Is it a hardware lock or bios/software?

    Thanks,

Optimus is disabled because of G-sync. Your GPU controls the display directly - the iGPU is not connected to anything

To expand a bit, it seems as though Aorus didn't provide a MUX (and an ability to toggle said MUX via something like a BIOS or hardware switch) that could toggle between the two GPUs, and instead only the dGPU is connected. With that kind of implementation, there's nothing you can do to leverage the iGPU, which is a huge disappointment (I don't need the dGPU wasting battery when, for example, I'm on a plane). I am hopeful, though not optimistic, that this is provided in v7, especially since Aorus is touting the enhanced media block of Kaby Lake, which can only be leveraged via the iGPU

Let's hope so. This is a beautiful and powerful machine.

Sadly, also a very very loud one. I mean, holy crap those fans are loud. Seriously.

Not as bad as I expected, fans set manually to 35% is almost inaudible and still rewards me with 60fps+ in FC4 (even considering a little throttling).

That's no good for the lifespan though - if your chips run at 90*C constantly, they are likely to die far sooner than otherwise.

What sort of temps do you get during play with the fan profile set like that?

I've been too scared to check, will have a look the next time I'm gaming with the Mrs in the same room.

91 is a bit high, but for a locked fan speed I'm impressed.

That's at minimal noise. I can game with headphones on, on the couch next to the Mrs while she watches TV/reads.

I imagine I wouldn't be able to get away with that no matter how quiet my system was. :)

    Just thought I'd run firestrike with limited fans @ 35% - http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/17859367?

    Max temps CPU - 90°c GPU - 80°c

That's really good to know. I've only ever heard one benching with a normal fan profile and it was pretty loud.
