And just to update this post. X9 has been cancelled as an SLi chassis, may be reused with a single GPU in the future.

Didn't Aorus launch the X9 with 1070's in SLI?

Source? If it's non-english, we all have Google Translate to assist :)

I didn't see notice on the Aorus site...and googling didn't turn up any hits on Aorus X9 discontinued or canceled.

Aorus News has a couple of X9 articles, all positive and active, no cancelation notice.

The Aorus X9 product page is active and still showing:

So it's a rumor that they aren't going to produce any more X9 1070 SLI units?

That shouldn't stop anyone from buying the X9 1070 SLI stock already in the field. Besides, maybe Aorus will start up production again when demand clears out the current X9 1070 SLI inventory?

With low production run high-end laptops, this is actually how it works for the most part. The vendors build to demand.

So Aorus haven't so much discontinued the X9 1070 SLI as they have stopped making them until they sell enough to justify making more. :)

Take expensive with a couple questionable hardware choices and add beaten with an ugly stick to the recipe, it wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that it was moving below expectation. Keep in mind I'm saying this having owned a couple at best homely Clevos, this one only a mother could love.

I consider Clevos to be sleepers, they look like they belong in an office, but are actually gaming computers.

I think we will have to wait to see what they do for 8th gen to see if the X9 gets another chance.

Id buy a X9 with the 1070's in it, even though the new one is out with (6) cores...

The old X9 is much more powerful! Plus its 4K, IPS.

I look at it like Aorus woke up and made a machine that actually works best for gamers.
1070 sli is only good for benchmarks. The DT would smack it most of the time in games. 4K @60hz is not what most gamers want.

Yea but you could get the X9 with the 1440P 120hz gsync before hand.

And if you didn’t need SLI or want SLI

Then the X7 V7 DT has a single gtx1080 and high refresh rate for $1,000 bucks cheaper or even less then that.

The only thing that made you barely capable of swallowing the original Aorus X9 price tag was the fact it had (2) gtx1070’s..

The new X9 has a six core sure, but so do the other new laptops for $999 that have a 8750H all 6 cores on board, and gtx1050’s that are 5-10% slower in overall cpu performance..

So they are really charging you $3,899 for a X7 V7 DT with a lower resolution, and a 8950hk instead of the 7820hk. And 24Hz higher refresh rate. They even borrowed the DT from the “X7 V7 lol

So what are you losing besides 24hz less?

I just don’t get it, it feels like they took the 9 out of the X9.

If you do the math. What cost more? Single gtx1080 or (2) 1070’s 1080P gsync? Or 1440P gsync? Well, they took away both of those more expensive options and decided to charge $200 more for the X9 DT So profits are in there favor.

For $2,799 the X7 V7 DT has destroyed the new X9’s value.

Yes, A mechanical keyboard with brown switches, redesigned cooling system, and a fully unlocked ( power limits as well) 8950hk. I believe the 8850h, although a nicely clocked chip, can only increase the multiplier and is only partly unlocked.

I think the only thing extreme about that i9 is that the term “i9” is (extremely exaggerated)

    It’s about as similar to an i9, like a i5 is a i7.

And it’s not even an i7 8th gen at that. But I’ll let you read what the experts have to say about being power limit unlocked over in the 8th gen mobile thread.

That thread is the latest BGA hating thread.
    Populated by the usual suspects.

Certainly an argument can be made for chunkers like the Asus 703 and the MSI GT75/83VR to have a desktop cpu.
But Aorus and manufacturers that have the gumption to make thin laptops and design proper cooling to suit shouldn't be included in that argument because socketed cpu's only fit in chunkers.

    Also, 12mb cache.

Hey, I’m all for BGA man. The main reason I bought my Aorus, was because how thin it was. And how fast they are. “Definitely above average”

I mean I’ve got my BGA at 4.2Ghz on all cores daily with a -110mv undervolt. It does everything a 7700K can do. I’m prepping for liquid metal as we speak, and I’ll be back to 4.6Ghz.

Build quality is surpreme as well.

If had the the money, I’d probably buy a X9 my self. I’m just jelly because I’ve only got a 7820hk!

I wish Aorus would implement a trade UP program, like MSI or Evga offers.

I’m hoping I can still get a fair amount for mine 01/2019 when I go to sell it, and buy my next Aorus.

What trade up schemes are offered for laptops by MSI, apart from the one where they lied about MXM GPUs?

I’ve just heard of it from members. I think Falkyntyne used msi upgrade plan or trade in program, from GT72 to GT73VR for $450.

Ohhh ok didn’t know. I read his signature and assumed there was a program like that.

Either way, it would be awesome if Aorus would do this for return customers.

    “Aorus step-up program”

I know I used evga’s step up before. Sometimes for as little as $100 bucks you can get a good upgrade.

I only used it with video cards.

I stepped up (2) gtx960 video cards and paid like 50 or 75 dollars and got a gtx980.

Not sure if they allow laptops.

It’s a genius program that allows manufacturers to whole sell directly to customers.

They may not always give you what you feel your item is worth. But usually they knock off a large sum of the MSRP.

I wish more manufacturers would offer this.

Ok so I checked, it looks like only eVga video cards, and eVga motherboards.

    Pretty straight forward though.

If you bought a, eVga gtx1070FTW for $449 you can trade it in toward like, gtx1080 for only the difference in price. So if it is 649 you pay 199
