I think processor is 7820hk, I don't think there is any other choice for overclockable 45w tdp CPU.
    1080ti in SLI ? ! That's some mad stuff!
If that picture is x9's ES machine, I guess the mechanic keyboard will be similar to Lenovo's Y910 gaming laptop.

Wasn't Lenovo's mech keyboard kinda bad? Aorus could try something like on the Balde Pro or Asus mechtag on their GX800

    1080Ti's.
    Almost died laughing.

But it's weird seeing a thicker Aorus.

Where did you get that it will be GTX 1080 Tis? There is no official word on that.

So I am confused. Pretty positive that 1080 Ti is unlikely since it's not even out for desktops yet and had like no rumors for notebooks.

But it does say that they have a new gpu inside. 1180s? Release date is after June.

Maybe. But if that is the case then they might entirely skip the 1080Ti? Because if June is when Volta might get announced, then that effective gap between the Ti and Volta is 3-4 months, which seems rather pointless IMO. Either it might as well be the 1080Ti for notebooks, and they are probably going to announce the desktop version in the next 2 months or so OR Aorus is trolling everyone with their marketing.
Also notice the single power jack ?

There's probably still a decent sized buffer between "announced" and "available" where they can fit a limited run for people who can't wait, I suppose.

"The final version of the newly updated Aorus range will be the X9 and will debut at some point after Computex later this year. It’s expected to have SLI linked GTX 1080 Tis, potentially making it the most powerful gaming laptop in the world when it shows up."

This will be awesome if its true! We need someone with connections to verify this hehe.

Would almost certainly be at a lower TDP, but even then I have no idea what they would use to power it, maybe a duplex adapter like on some of the Sagers?

Well at 200W TDP, it will need beefy cooling. And the next problem is the result nerf that will narrow the performance gap between the 1080 and the 1080ti, making it pointless.

Heck, other than the stuff on this model I haven't heard anything at all about a mobile 1080TI. I'm still not convinced it exists. But since the mobile ones are essentially desktop cards anyway it's not impossible, and I can't imagine there won't be a desktop 1080TI.

    mmmmm, nope.

About of 500W of thermal consumption in a so thin laptop, even with vapor chamber is extremely complicated.

I prefer one 1080TI, less problems with drivers and compatibility with sli in some games, would be the perfect laptop.

Not to be SLI 1080 ti.

Other sources have stated the Aorus X9 will be fitted with GTX 1070 SLI giving a 30% performance boost over a single GTX 1080.

Of course I really hope that's wrong and that it will eventually be either 1080 SLI or better a single 1080 ti (1080 ti in SLI would be like a dream). Not sure I'd be interested if only 1070 SLI even though they would outperform a single 1080, but that's just me.

The CPU's in high-end gaming lappys are a bit of a bottleneck for some games, especially sims like FSX SE and Prepar3D. All that GPU performance needs to be complimented be a desktop version CPU and would like very much to see a manufacturer bite the bullet and throw in an i7 7700K overclocked to at least 5GHz with larger power supply and the required beefed up cooling to accommodate stable Overclock.

The manufacturer to do this will take pole position and I'd rather have an Aorus X9 with just 1080 SLI instead of 1080 ti SLI, if it meant having the i7 7700K fitted at a 5GHz overclock just to get rid of the occasional CPU bottleneck stage on some things/programs. The fact that the Aorus X9 is strongly rumoured to be fitted with the lesser 1070 SLI (instead of 1080 SLI) would suggest it would be more possible.

It's probably late in the game to hope for a 1080ti laptop, but hopefully Volta laptops will have their equivalents stuffed into laptops. Then finally all these 4k laptop screens will make sense, and hopefully there will be better 4k screens to go along with them, too.

It sounds like a single Volta card may be sufficient for 4K if the performance increases are anywhere close to projected, though on the other side of that, it sounds like we'll have to sift through Max-Q Volta cards as well.

I still don't get it. Why have your new top spec notebook have mere 1070's in SLI? Surely 1080's (or....Ti's).

    Disappoint.

Thin and light is kind of AORUS's thing, something with their X series's form factor with dual 1080s would likely be warm enough to ignite adjacent furniture or pets at full power.

Also I'm thinking they're just not going to bother bringing Ti cards to mobile platforms.

    LOL.

    Yeah I agree with you.

Max-Q is disappointing, seems to be a simple cash grab by all involved.

I genuinely hope that it's not the future for mobile GPU's. Nvidia charging desktop price premium for mobile GPU that are closer to the old GTX*** M cards.

AMD sort your mobile shizzle out.

I am being turned around by some comments on here and am starting to give the benefit of the doubt. I mean of course it's a cash grab because that's what businesses do, find ways to make more money. But in this case it does genuinely seem like what they're shooting for is maximum efficiency in power/watt and while keeping the system thin and light. The naming is unfortunate and it's very obvious that this form factor is not for everyone, especially here with all the raw performance enthusiasts. But If you want the best possible performance and noise output for the form factor that's where max-q comes in. Some people are willing to pay for that. I'm not but I have different priorities. I hope it sort of branches TBH, so they keep the full-fat cards for heavy performance/DTR machines and use the lite cards for the thin form factor systems.

I think if they just named them the equivalent power (GTX 1070 Max-Q instead of GTX 1080 Max-Q) people would be a lot less upset. The problem is that there's a feeling that this is a major step back in approach. I don't even think people would mind if there was a price premium for a slimmer equivalent, but telling us it is actually a GTX 1080 variant even though it has GTX 1070 power (if that) is rubbing people the wrong way.

They named them the same because it's the same chip at the core IIRC. I think a 1080 and 1080M would have made more sense. There was a clear distinction between the notebook 980 and notebook 980M, I think they should have stuck with that. My biggest problem with Max-Q is that it makes it sound like it's better performance rather than better efficiency even if you already know the aerospace term.

We might be, though I interpreted your response as saying the 1080 Max-Q should be given a 1070 name, I was saying call it 1080M so you're identifying the card correctly but still indicating that it's lower performance than a 1080.

I thought the title to be "AORUS X9 - SLI 1080Ti's, WORST BEATING GAMING NOTEBOOK"

But wow! A full TDP 1080ti SLI in a small form factor? :vbeek:Good luck with the thermals. I'd be amazed if they managed to pull this one off.

Well, if they do release a 1080ti and melt laptops in the process, I will still be the happiest person to prove myself correct against the fools that have laughed at me in the past. They said "a 1080ti is not possible in laptops". :tears:

But is also kind of sad, because if they can't put a 1080ti in a laptop...then how can they put Volta and future GPUs in a laptop? :vbconfused:
