Just bought a AORUS x7 DR v7-KL3K3D from HIDevolution.com via @Donald@HIDevolution .
The process was so easy, ZERO STRESS. I'm an introvert who can barely have a normal conversation and would prefer text/email messaging than voice calls, but DAM, I gotta say @Donald@HIDevolution is top notch. It all started with me filling out the Company Contact Inquiry Form; I put my name, email, number, and a 3-page essay specifying my wants and needs on the machine. No more than 3 minute after my submission, he calls me to discuss the presented spec. At first, I was gonna go all out with the beast CLEVO P870TM1, but in the end settled for the machine I present to you now. Donald was very informative, any questions (even the dumb ones) asked were given slow, yet descriptive answers. The perfect pace for introverts like me who have learnt to ignore voices around and can not remember audible conversations as he used to. Thank you for dealing with my incompetence. Anywhooo, in the future [~Mid January], when I receive the machine, I will tell you guys more about it.
So far, what do you guys think about the setup? Any feedback welcome!

I'd say if you're accustomed to SSD's, any SSD new or old, you may find the spinning platters unbearably slow when you have to access them. Other than that good call on the paste, HID did an excellent job witth mine and while I cant prove it with a before and after there can be little doubt it's helping to keep the temps down on a machine that can use the help. While I like the QHD/120 hz screen I do know a few people that would find it unacceptable in their work. For gaming however it's perfectly mated to the graphics and even an old man like me can have the desktop at native to avoid windows scaling issues.
IMO in general the largest obejection you're likely to have is fan noise. They don't bother me at all but they do bother a lot of people. I suspect part of that is they've never had worse or experienced a "bad" fan noise. By the latter I'm referring to a high pitched squeal or something along those lines. In perspective I had this sitting next to my Clevo and it could not be heard when both where running Still, if you've never had a lappy with serious fans that's going to change. While on the subject of being next to the Clevo that highlighted both what a fatty that is as well as the relative slimness of this lappy. It's just half the thickness, remarkable when you consider the power packed into it. Another thing it highlights is that this is still not a small laptop. In every other dimension it's quite similar to the Clevo and like the Clevo it requires a large bag to carry. Once you have it in that bag you're going to find that it's much lighter but at 7 lbs and change it's no lightweight and you'll be feeling it after a day of packing it around airports. Last (possible) objection you may have is the idiotic bird on the trackpad. I'm not a fan of styling a 3k dollar laptop to appeal to 12 year old boys few of which are likey to actually buy one. Maybe it's just me?
So... If I haven't scared you off yet the good part is you can no excuses game with this thing and it's going to have legs enough to take you a while into the future in that regard. It's otherwise quite a powerhouse making it a pleasure to use in the ordinary grind as well. Despite my earlier gripe for a gaming machine it's appearance is relatively muted which if you're like me is a positive. I have no after purchase regret, I still see nothing out there that competes because there is nothing that brings a 17" screen with this kind of power into an airlines friendly package. That's the part the Clevo guys don't get, it isn't easy to travel anymore with 10 lb DTRs.Donald@Paladin44 and BEARs12 like this. -

I see you have a Global Warranty in the list, I also have that and it's awesome for international customers like us since it covers shipping costs both ways should anything go wrong (hopefully not)
These are the Phoenix Tweaks:
1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.

As for the fan noise, I don't mind it so much. I'm going to use the headphones for both noise-cancelation and keeping my ears warm. Ill keep what you said in mind though.
I understand exactly what you mean regarding the looks. I am a gamer but there are times when i just want to be invisible and not have people look at my lighthouse laptop the size of 2 math book in the library or at work. It may be loud but its faits not chatter.
If its similar to my previous Alienware 17 R2 in terms of size or smaller, it should be fine. If it was bigger and heavier, I'll just exercise more.

I'd love to get the same laptop, but it looks like it's no longer on the HIDEvolution site. Did you have to special order it?

The Aorus X7 V7 is an extremely high quality laptop.
Gaming laptops are hit or miss it seems! And I can say this, the Aorus runs insanely cool! You will wonder if this is a desktop, the gpu temps are so low.
Whoever engineered this thing did a great job. And it’s a beast! It runs 4K like butter. The ips 4K panel is very vivid I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
I reviewed a lot of different laptops. And ultimately decided on the Aorus x7 V7 it seemed to offer everything I wanted.Donald@Paladin44 likes this. -

AND, if anyone cannot read the stickies in the Windows & Software sub-forum where the clean install guide, tweaks, etc. are all there, then I am NOT going to spoon feed anyone the info!

You would think someone of your calibre would expect people to ask straight forward questions when you post so many helpful threads and not feel the need to be so sarcastic......

Did OP get his x7 DT laptop yet? I’d love to have the gtx1080 version.
I was actually looking at the P750TM1G and P775TM1G.
Ultimately decided that they were a little dated looking. And to bulky. They are beastly though. -
Pretty sure they have the Toshiba GX3 nvme ssd. Seems to get 2200mb read/ and 1400mb write speeds. -

My Aorus X7 V7 included the GX3 in it. But, I thought it would include a SM961 -
Also, to your statement above... what GPU is so cool it'll make you think it's in a desktop? xD -
I’ve owned a desktop gtx1070 and a desktop gtx1080.
I’d say my own gtx1070 in my Aorus breaking 20,000 graphics in firestrike while running about 66c at full tilt while 4K gaming.
Running 1080P these temps drop to about 56C while gaming.
What does as desktop gtx1070 offer over this?
Overall is 16,260.
This is beyond impressive.
It would have been nice buying from HID but, I’m all about saving money. -

After getting use to the laptop, I’ve gotten tired of hearing fans. And since I have some temperature head room I decided to see if I can have a silent gaming experience. So, setting the lowest fan speed at 30% is inaudible to me. This is also the lowest fan speed on custom. With my gpu at +100/+785 running BF1 at 4K it averages right at 79C-81C.
The cpu also hovers around 80C-82C it is undervolted. And running totally stock right now.
This laptop is totally silent! And very nice, because I can pause the game and hear nothing..
I think I’m going to leave it like this. The cpu is running stock but I really don’t care. It’s 100% silent.
If I return my fan back to auto and allow it to speed up and become audible or noisy my gpu hovers in the 60’s and cpu drops to the 70’s
This is my first laptop, and I just don’t see the “laptops run hot thing”
My brothers a desktop guru, like I use to be. And it runs AS cool as his MSI gtx1070 aib card with a good cooler.
The Aorus x7 V7 is unbelievable! I’m so impressed with it, I’d be hesitant to try something else in the future around upgrade time. Engineering has gone in to this laptop. A lot of it! The gpu runs ice cold while overclocked with a moderate fan profile. And will maintain better than average laptop gpu temps while running virtually silent! -

Well played mate. Hope there's no hard feelings

Also temps of 56c are unlikely, every aorus laptop that i tested could not even keep boost speeds after a mere 30minutes of gameplay and they sounded like a vacuum cleaner at work. Or you want to feel better about your purchase than it actually is or you are a Gigabyte employee.
NBC their review states the same, Aorus X7 1070GTX cant hold boost speeds of the GPU https://www.notebookcheck.net/Aorus-X7-v7-7820HK-GTX-1070-QHD-Laptop-Review.242112.0.htmlLast edited: Mar 15, 2018 -
I have to admit mine runs cool. Not that cool. Usually about 68c on pubg with overclock which holds stable at core 1797mhz and memory 4400mhz.
Cpu is around 72c at 4.0ghz
Mine is alot quieter than my old P771dm-g.
