buying and selling in our forum

People seem to be able to ask about buying stuff, and well there is a whole thread devoted to selling ICD7 directly from this site, so is with this Kamin_Majere guy doing invading our forum and telling us what we do and don't want to read? (See the previous thread.) <Censorship is wrong> I think selling P-78xx (or P series in general) parts or even a whole computer is totally appropriate for this sub-forum.

Edit: Hey sorry to dis you Kamin. I just looked you up and saw that you are a prominent contributor to this forum, not an outsider. You probably have the right to censor stuff if it is in the rules, but still, was that really necessary?

 

Invading our forum? the guy is doing his job, and a good job as well, rules are rules.

Unfortunately, if everyone sold their gateway laptops on this forum, i would think it would become a mess.

 

In my edit I apologized to Kamin for my accusation.

I thought of a solution: a sticky thread containing a list of parts/computers being sold. Reply's in the thread would not be allowed; private messaging would be used instead. Once an item has been sold the seller could remove his post.

As to your original point. Most all buying and selling needs to go into the market place (hence its reason for existing in the first place) It keep clutter down in the main forums and generally makes it a nicer place to visit. We have set rules on how things are sold here and it would turn into chaos to have everyone selling and buying all over the place and be unable to moniter it easily (like in the marketplace)

From time to time things slip through the cracks, and in some cases (like the mentioned ICD7 thread) it is allowed to stay because its a company giving out free samples to test its products and try to get real life data to see if their product really is what they say it it. Plus its been around so long and some decent info has come from it that i let it be.

Though if IC Diamond starts pushing his product i will be the first to put my foot and put a stop to it if its brought to my attention.

So no worries, you're in good hands. I tend to have a light touch when dealing with everyone on here in Gateway land, the fact that you didnt actually know i was a moderator kinda says that
