hey, my first post and wont be the last, I have been looking at this laptop for the about a week and bought it yesterday, from this site I learn that the cp is not the best so I bought this one, T7300 2.0GHz 800 MHz FSB 4MB L2 CACHE SOCKET P.....not too sure if it is compatible so if any one knows please let me know, also I am curious about buying the 4 GB Ram 800mhz has anyone else tried it, would it be a smart move?? and if someone could give me a step by step to get rid of all the bloat ware and how to reinstall vista without losing the drivers, I am not that computer literate, it would be greatly appreciated for your assistance.....I was also considering getting the extended warranty, good idea or not??

IMHO the cpu is fine, it doesn't need to be change unless you are running CPU intensive task.
4gb Ram only works on a 64 bit OS, so yes it would be waste unless you have a 64 bit OS.
Create a recovery DVD it's in the manual page 88.
You might want to try reading through this thread.

if i took the ram that is in it and replace it with 3gigs of 800mhz would that be ok?? would it improve anything, if so what??
-
what brand of ram is in it?
-
IMHO it's not going to make that much a difference, but hey it's your money. The laptop can play games at good FPS read the link I sent you. There are several people who shows the FPS for certain games.
Don't remember what kind of ram is in there but it's 667.
If you are not that computer literate I really suggest you start reading that thread if you're interested in purchasing the laptop. I've read through the whole thread in order to decided wheter or not to get the laptop(Which I did). -
I guess Ill take your word on the ram, do you know of anyone putting the extreme processor in yet?? I bought the laptop, but havent recieved it yet....also got the free game....I'm in Africa at the moment for work so I havent really been able to go scoop it out yet....I bought it because of the thread.....

I dropped a T9300 in mine and went from 6980 to 8675 in 3DSMark06.
As far as the ram goes. Save your money. I went ahead and put 4 gigs of 800mhz ram (DDR2 6400) in and the scores stayed the same - both there and in windows performance. -
where is a good site to purchase a better processor like that?? i bought mine off of ebay.... bad idea or ok??
-
I bought mine here - http://www.priceguidenetwork.com/co...hz-fsb800mhz-6mb-ufcpga8-socket-p-retail.html
Disclaimer: I've never ordered from them before. I called them to ask about it they only answered one out of three times so I'm guessing they have poor support. However, I ordered it on Wednesday and it got here on Friday so I can't complain I suppose -
Thank you!! I will probably order it ASAP
