Well i just setup my laptop in a raid 0 configuration, but i haven't really noticed that much of a gain.

What kind of steps can i take to get the most out of Raid 0?

    Thanks in advanced.

Could you post a HD Tune or ATTO chart?

hehe i guess it would help if i ran the thing first. I've heard of the program but have never used it. I'll give it a whirl and then post my results.

Being that the standard drive in the 78series only gets ~50MB/s...

I'd say doubling your performance is one helluva gain.

To get any better, you'd need to go SSD or Raid0 SSD.

You can improved your burst rate by enabling cache in your hard drive properties... but 110 average is pretty good for standard hard drives.

I'd say your RAID is a complete success.

Hi guys. This is all interesting to me. I just bought a 7805u. I game primarily so do you think I would benefit from setting up a RAID 0? On pg52 in the FX manual it walks you thjrough how to set up a RAID 0. Is it as easy as following the directions? Anyone have a quicklink to how to do this?

I am not very pc savvy and I dont want to mess things up ; (

btw. where are the nvidia system tools located?

    THANKS!

I believe you hit F5 (Matrix drives or something like that) when you reboot and than you have to do a complete windows reinstall. As for preformance I am sure it helps some, better than if you didnt do RAID.

You'd only be getting faster load times in terms of gaming with a hdd upgrade.
Essentially, all you gotta do is:
Stick 2 identical hard drives into you computer
    Reboot and access the bios
    Enable RAID under silent boot
Select your Raid name and stripe size
    Reinstall your OS
    Partition your hard drives
    Great success!

    With raid0 you increase/decrease a few things.

1.) You double the read write cache of the HDD. Instead of having 16mb you now have 32mb. This will increase the burst read/write speeds a bit and on smaller files it lets you work like as if on an external SSD drive or better while the actual hard disc catches up.

2.) you double your data per track decreasing needed seeks on a well maintained disc array. Seeks are the big slowdown of the drive. Be this in just track to track or worse a track sitting across the drive. The less the drive has to jump tracks to get, or write, data the better.

3.) usually a small penalty in cpu usage. This usually is barely noticable.

4.) increased power demand and heat generated as both drives are being used all the time.

5.) decreased data security as if the array breaks the data is long gone.

These are few of the big points but again I probably missed the biggest point, that is bragging rights.................. :)
