I'm setting up an NV52 next week, if you don't have an answer by then I'll let you know.

I cant seem to find the option of disabling it.

Yes that beep is very loud and annoying, my customer complained about that also. Unfortunately there is no option for this in the BIOS, and it will beep before windows has loaded or the audio driver has loaded. There doesn't appear to be a setting that can change this, I will look into it more and post back if I find anything.
For anyone wondering how to install XP onto the NV series laptops with an AMD processor in AHCI mode, you need to slipstream drivers. Fortunately I did find the drivers you need to slipstream, but unfortunately I don't know which 1 of the 2 are required, or if both are needed. I slipstreamed both and finally got rid of the BSOD when the XP installer is looking for the drive to install onto.

If you're using XP x86 (32-bit) you want to take the x86 driver from the RAID7xx folder, but NOT the x64. You want to slipstream the drivers from both the links I posted, but when given the option for x86, x64, or both, simply choose the x86.
If you don't know how to slipstream drivers a simple guide is in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=295516&highlight=xp+driver under SLIPSTREAM XP F6 SATA DRIVERS, the difference is you DON'T want to download the drivers from the Intel download link, you want to download the ones from the 2 links I posted.
If I get really bored I'll test which one of the 2 is needed or if in fact you do need both, but I have a lot to do so I don't have time for little unnecessary things like that right now.
HOWEVER, XP is still refusing to boot after install, even in safe mode. When Windows starts to load (I see the logo and loading bar) I get a very quick BSOD followed by an instantaneous reboot. This laptop is going to be in IDE mode for now, maybe in the future we will see exactly what is needed to get XP working in AHCI mode on this laptop series. -
I've searched all over the web, still could not find anything, strange thing. Not sure what they had in mind when they made it this way.

I am not sure how to disable the beep, but if you mute the speakers you won't be able to hear it.

That loud beep is on my NV58 too!
Totally annoying -
just tried it. it works! Thanks! -
that loud beep is on my NV58 also, I have contacted costumers support from gateway and after some directives they respond to me:
"The troubleshooting steps we have taken have not resolved the issue. I have determined that this issue is hardware related which requires service to replace a part(s). If you are interested, we can pull your computer for depot repair. Component replacement costs associated with this repair will be covered, aside from exceptions outlined within our limited warranty (this would include damages caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, etc.) examples of this includes cracked LCD, liquid spills etc."
should I ship my computer to them, or every Gateway NV have that problem???
thanks -
The beep only occurs during connecting and disconnecting. What's so irritating about that? Muting the speakers is a good remedy.

Got a Gateway NV52, desperately trying to figure out how to shut this cursed beep off too. Tend to move this laptop around from surface to surface quite a bit, and prefer not to mute the speakers, as other alerts & sound functions are rather appreciated... C'mon, Gateway: help us out here, this beep's no-good...
-
the solution is simple either go deaf or mute the sound card.

I finally found a solution that works!

These directions are for Windows 7
1. Right click on the sound icon down by the clock.
2. Select "Playback Devices"
3. Click on the "Playback" tab if it is not already selected.
4. Then click on the speakers.
5. Select properties in the bottom right.
6. Click on the "Levels" tab.
