While wirelessly surfing on a 1-month old Gateway E475M, the machine suddenly shut off. At first I thought it might be the battery, but any attempt to restart the machine, running on battery or AC power, results in no activity, other than:
    • A faint beeping
    • The following items flashing:
      • Power button
      • Module status indicator icon (flashing purple, even though a CD/DVD module is installed)
      • Wireless network status indicator icon
      • Wireless network switch indicator
      • Power indicator

The machine had previously shown no symptoms of any problem. The only app running at the time of shutdown was IE7.

I'm guessing it's a motherboard issue. Any other thoughts or similar experiences? Thanks in advance.

FYI-I'm shipping the machine today to LaVergne, TN, for warranty service. I will post again when the problem is resolved.

Update: The problem was with the motherboard. Gateway/MPC shipped me a box, I sent the laptop to LaVergne, TN, and within about 1 week the machine was returned to me with a new motherboard installed. Machine has been in use for about two weeks with no further problems.
