hi all. since this is my first post on this forum, I'd like to start off by saying thanks to all of you who've provided many helpful/useful thoughts in regards to purchasing fujitsu laptops. I have been eyeing the s6231 for about a month now and even played with it at fry's a few weeks ago. all I can say is DANG! [8D]

my question now is this: since 6231s with the sonoma will be rolling out soon, will dothans still be around for sale? if so, how much of a price reduction do you foresee? do you think portable one will still sell 6231s with sonoma and dothan processors? I don't care too much whether I end up with a sonoma or a dothan.. I'm more concerned about how much I'll be spending. I really want to get this laptop but I'm willing to wait.. at least for a while. of course it would be nice to upgrade from my current computer (1999 HP pavilion desktop @ 400MHz) [ :p]

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

They will not be producing both at the same time. So whenever they finally get around to Sonoma, the Dothan will be done. At that point they'll probably be pretty hard to find since most places don't keep a lot of stock around.

I don't see much different b/w Dothan and Sonoma ... Sonoma bases on Dothan's architect ... has the same Cache 2M ... consumes the same energy ... except ( I guess ) the price is gonna be higher ( ... well ... new stuff alwasy more expensive ... lol ... ) ...
I've been watching both S6231 and Dell 700m for like 2 months ... but I decided to go w/ Fujitsu as Dell is not much cheaper than S7631 ( I live in TX so I have to pay tax for Dell ... ) ... I'm still waiting for the new S7xxx that comes in May ... then I'll make the final decision ... [ :p] ( so greedy ... kaka ) ...

    ... Forever is never ...

I feel I waited too long. Shouldn't have fallen for that "released in march" line, but who knew Intel would have production problems. Now, everyone knows it's coming so P1 isn't stocking it so you have to wait for them to get it from Osaka, Japan. Currently my 6231 is in Louisville, KY delayed by a food and drug administration hold. George Bush is making sure I'm not smuggling food into this country inside laptop computers. I'm hoping to get it next week.
