I just got my s7020d. First impressions are it's really light and the screen is almost glaringly bright.
But I'm very disappointed with the heat. It gets uncomfortably warm on the lap and on the handrest. Is something wrong with my computer? My specs:
    p1.73hz, 512mb ram, 60 gb 5400 rpm hard drive.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

    Thanks.

I got the S7011, the right side is a bit warm, depending on usage, it's the HDD under there. see if you have the CPU clocked down, that might help

I have the similar experience. I think the heat is from the hard drive. I tried to use rmclock and some other software, but it doesn't improve a lot. Now, I put a cooling pad under the laptop so I can put the laptop on my lap without feeling uncomfortable....

    Thanks for the tip.
I guess the s7020d does not share the lack of heat of its sibling the s7011 that I had read so much about.
It's still a great laptop for the size and the screen (had to turn down the brightness though).
I'm especially glad I got the extra warranty now as I'm weary of hot laptops burning out.

I use the S7010 at work with 1.73Ghz, 60Gb, 512 RAM, the CPU obviously spits out hot air. The righ palm rest only gets warm when the A/C adapter is plugged in. Compared to my Compaq Presario 2145 which has AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+, which has a leaf blower for CPU fan and enough heat to burn your nuts off. I think I'll take the S7010 any day.

I have the same issue with my S7020D (1.73, 80GB, 512ram) It gets pretty hot pretty quickly. Specially on the left side where the hot air is being pumped out. Otherwisethen that, I am pretty happy with it...

yeh mine is hot too. I think it has to do with the wifi card if you open up the HD door (under left hand rest) you'll see that the location of the wifi card is where it gets the hottest. I've undervolted mine and it helps a little but not a whole lot. The heat isn't horrible but I wish I would've gotten a s7010d

Actually, I'm okay with the palm rest. Although it gets warm, it is not uncomfortable. The bottom of the laptop, however, gets hot! If it stayed as warm as the top, I would be satisified.
Also, the fan gets quite loud at times. I've already changed the cpu to max battery even when plugged it, which helps a bit.
Otherwise, it's a great screen and the best built laptop I've ever owned. I do like the keyboard as well.
