Saw both of these at Fry's tonight. Why does the screen on the n3510 seem more brighter and vivid than the one on the s6231? Both said they were Crystalview. Is one a newer tech than the other?

    Thanks

I’m sure the settings were fine. I saw the same difference when I went to Fry’s also. The N3510 was brighter and more vivid than the rest of the Fujitsu's. Not by a whole lot but there obviously was a difference.

    N3510

    - 15.4" Crystal View WXGA TFT (1280 x 800) Display (Super Vivid Diplay 500:1 Contrast Ratio)

    S6231

    - 13.3" CV (Crystal View) XGA TFT Display

Perhaps this is not a "bug" but a "feature".

The S6231 has the first generation of Fujitsu's CV display. The N3510 has the 2nd generation of the CV display, called the Color-Enhanced CV display. This new generation has a higher brightness of 300nits, a higher contrast ratio and i believe also a higher gamma. Fujitsu claims it can match CRT quality. The best notebook screen on the market in my opinion.

As orangeguy said, it's the newer generation of screens which are brighter.
The following 2 pictures are from Brian's preview of the N3510 when he compared the screen to his P7010. The preview can be found here: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=2222

Correct, it's a next generation technology. Related note, the new P7000 is a little brighter than the old one, so this is something that's changing across the board.
