Hi, some of you saw my previous post on the hardware forum, for those who didn't this is what happened:

I was trying to decide between the s6210 and the dell d600, I chose the s6210 and I was ready to order it, but then came the averatec with its <$1000 price. I'm having a lot of unexpected expenses so I would like to save as much as possible, however I'm concerned about averatec quality. Because of this I am now considering the s2020.

Is the S2020 just an s6210 with an AMD proc??
How does the s2020 performs compared to the s6210?
Is the s2020 so utterly inferior to the s6210 that I shouldn't even consider it?

Also what do s2020 owners think about it? (there should be someone here who has one, right?)

Well thanks to all those who have already helped me and thanks in advance for those that post here...I hope you can help me.

Jose, I wouldn't worry about Averatec at all. Everyone I know that has one loves it. If I needed cheap portability, I wouldn't think twice about going that way.

As for the 2020, the AMD is the most obvious difference. I haven't used it before, but the few people I've talked to that have it appear happy.

    Hi Jose,

What would you do w/ your computer? What do you need it for the most?
S2000 series, S2020 in particular are great machines.

    1. I've a close friend who has an Averatec and it's OK, but only for Office, internet, and normal stuff. The video solution is horrible [ :p], and it can only have 512 RAM max. Quality is not that great, battery feels cheap and it makes small noises like it isn't fix and tie up very good. Keyboard is OK, a little bit small and arrows keys aren't that great located. For less than 1000 bucks, IT IS a pretty good deal, but see what do you really need to do with it.

    2. S2020 vs S6210:
    Well, there are many differences:
AMD vs Intel P-M. AMD are great processor, and P-M too. But, AMD is cheap. If you really want a P-M laptop, take a look at S6120 old series. Newegg.com has great discounts on those machines, as S2020 as well. There are around here some posts that I made about differences between S2000 and S6000 series, or take a look on leog.net, where I've posted as well.
S2020 ATI video solution is much better than Averatec's, but not good as S6000 series. (and S6000 series video solution is still shared video memory, so it isn't that great).
    Hope this helps,

    K.

    Cheers!

True, the Averatec feels a little cheap compared to the S6210, but it's also almost half the price. The biggest thing about the Averatec is it's value. If I was in the market and that's what I could afford, I wouldn't hesitate to get one.
