Hi, first I know about the great service on portableone. However I will be asking some friends to order this notebook for me and they feel more comfortable ordering from newegg (they have ordered things from them before, and prefer to be charged when the item is shipped).

If there is a major advantage if I order from portableone I would try to make them reconsider. I heard about the zero dead pixel thing but I believe someone did asked P1 to check for dead pixels and he still recieved a defective screen...

Right now I have to options..

    S6210 / 512 RAM / 40GB (5400) from portableone $1,499 none in stock...

    S6210 / 768 RAM / 40GB (4200) from newegg $1,472 in stock and free shipping..
(thats $1,366 for the notebook plus $106 for the extra RAM)

    what would you do??

    thanks..

If you are a student, you can get a 5% discount from portableone.

I have never dealt with newegg, but as for portableone, I ordered on a Friday and PortableOne got their shipment of S6210's on Monday, customized mine and sent it out on Tuesday, and I received it at noon on Thursday.

You should buy from Portable One and here's why. P1 offers a 30-day return window. NewEgg only offers return for the same item. So if you hate it, you're screwed. P1 is solid, just much less known due to their niche markets than NewEgg.

I purchase my S7010D from newegg.com Got a better price and great delivery. But I was not happy with a laptop and when I contacted newegg.com learned exactly what they mean by their exchange policy.

Neweggs says they only offer exchange for same item but what they actually mean is call Fujitsu and exchange it with them. Someone must have complained loud enough because here is what their site says now:
**This item is warranted through the product manufacturer only.

The newegg policy is no anything when it comes to laptops. I have spent thousands with newegg and their service and prices ar great but this policy is not good. The result is it turned me off and I hardly ever check the site anymore.

portableone is a small company that cannot afford to keep a big inventory. This adds to the delays many complain about. If you want better customer service generally you need to deal with a smaller company. I thkn portableone will even accept phone calls, try finding a number to call at newegg.com, they discourage call like most big companies do.

The $1,499 laptop you have found at portableone is the best bang for the buck out there. I wish I had waited on this deal myself.

If you call a "big name" company, you just get a phone support employee.
When you call PortableOne, you get to talk to the people that actually run the company.
    Take your pick.
