hey everyone, it's my first time here. I just bought a new laptop and i'm wondering if i could upgrade the graphics card on the FUJITSU N6210-401. It uses a x600 mobility, is it possible to upgrade to a x800 or anything similar? thanks for the help!
Also would it be able to upgrade from an ATI card to a Nvidia card ?

In general, video cards in laptops are soldered on to the motherboard. So, no, it is quite impossible.

Nope not on the N6210, or any other Lifebook fujitsu infact!

The chips are soldered and not in a socket as already mentioned.

I don't get your question! you want to replace the motherboard with another that has something better than the X600 already fitted on it? ... that is not possible because unlike desktops, each motherboard is designed specifically for a model ... there is no standard for laptops due to different postioning of components and plugs

this is how the motherboard looks on the N6010 ... no exactly what I would call a standard, especially with that hole in the middle :p

Dell has socketed GPUs in the machines that have dedicated video. There are a few others as well, try posting in the general hardware forum.

hey brian, so then on the 6000, can you exchange the 128MB x300 with a x700?

ATI doesn't just sell Mobility Radeons if you wanted to upgrade it really wouldn't be worth your time and money anyway, much easier to just buy the notebook with the card you want, but i must say the N6210 (or the updated N6220) is a fantastic machine, unless you are a very very very hardcore gamer it should satisfy your gaming needs and easily anything else.

In general, you cannot upgrade graphic cards in most notebooks. I've heard that there are a few specialized notebooks which you can but very rare. Definitely not Fujitsu.

the n6210 will be able to handle all modern games, it flys on HL2 on high settings with 1gb of ram and will easily run fear, not on full settings but it will run it fine.
