    Hi,

I just got a Fujitsu Lifebook, which is my first Fujitsu.

    Lifebook S6510b.
T8300 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb hdd, downgrade to xp pro.

    1. after I plugged my cable modem,
it took around 50 sec up to 1min 50 sec, it varies, to start up windows.
that was too slow and I thought i got virus something,
so I d/l Kaspersky and did a full scan. found nothing.
Could it be something wrong with XP first install ?
Coz when I ran a search using windows search, I'm asked for a password.
    Password needed
The backup archive you have chosen is password protected. To access this back up archive you must enter the password.
    Enter password : .......
    OK / CANCEL

    2. and I was also wondering about the Anti Virus that comes with it.

In the detailed spec in the website,
it's written that the Anti Virus is Norman Virus Control and Norman Firewall.

I received a CD case of Norman Virus Control single user with CD Key on it. So I can download it from the Norman website.

Just wondering whether I'm supposed to receive a Norman Firewall CD as well ?
or would they both be automatically included in the download ?
I haven't used it yet, I installed Kaspersky Internet Security Trial instead.

    3. There's an application/program called :
    "Setup for Application Panel"
and whenever I open it, there's a pop up msg saying :

Cplkicker.exe - entry point not found.
The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL

    then after I click OK,
it goes to the program. no error though.
but Does anyone know what might cause this ?

    4. Sometimes when I turn on my computer, when it got to windows,
there's also a pop up msg saying :
quicktouch.exe - entry point not found.
The procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL
then I just close it or click OK.
Everything is working normal, I was just wondering why.

I think, but not sure though, this happens after I plugged in my cable modem. or is it because of Kaspersky.
I don't think i got a virus, because I ran the Kaspersky and it was clean.

    Any ideas ?
    Thanx :)

btw, are you supposed to get a users manual / users guide book with the notebook ?
Mine only came with instruction sheets.

Anyway, will go back to Fujitsu service center to ask about these stuff, but I just thought I'd ask here first :)
    Thank you
    sloane

I use Windows Vista Business on my S6510, and my startup time seems much faster than that. I've never timed it though. Make sure you don't have unnecessary programs launching when Windows starts.

I'm not sure why you are getting those error messages. Check the Fujitsu website to make sure you are using XP compatible drivers and software, and that you are current with all updates.

I've quite pleased with my purchase, and barring any unforeseen difficulties I will consider another Fujitsu for my next notebook.

    anyway,
    went to fujitsu service center
did a full recovery and reinstalled windows xp,
waited there for like 5 hours.
Fujitsu tech guy said the OMNIPASS fingerprint software was causing the XP to have a slow start up. He tested on a different machine , win xp pro, no other programs installed, and it was also slow.
So he uninstalled the software, and startup takes 40-45 seconds.
before it was up to 1 min 40 sec.

Before I purchased the notebook, I asked whether there were any problems downgrading to XP, they said no.
then I asked then again, were there any other complains about slow start up ?
they said no, either they're lying or they're lying.
Come on... nobody has a problem with slow start up ? a new notebook that takes 1 min 40 sec from OFF to Windows xp ?? dat's just crazy.

    so anyway.....
    no omnipass for me.

went home, installed kaspersky anti virus,
and the cplkicker.exe is back when I go to "setup of lifebook application panel"
quicktouch.exe is back when i pressed on the shortcut button.
No further error, so I can't be bothered to go back to the service center, need to use the notebook to work !!!!!!!

the fingerprint sensor located under the trackpad doesn't work as a scroll function.
went to fujitsu website to download driver.
installed the new driver and it worked.
It turns out the fujitsu service center didn't use the newest updated driver.
The least they could do is be prepared and use all the latest release driver !!
and It turns out that they're using the same driver for s6410 and s6510, which they have been using for probably over a year.

Anyway.... so far it's been 3 weeks and no problems.
It's probably just this particular Fujitsu service center that gives a really bad service or this model of s6510b has problem, I don't know.
