hi, i've been reading this forum and finally signed up as a member! so, just wanted to give a warm greeting.

i'm a college student and is thinking of purchasing the fujitsu's S6231. since i first saw it, i fell deeply in love with it! [:I] but i'm really debating if i really DO need a laptop. I'm still living at home and can get access to computer most of the time. in aug of 2006, i'm moving out to an apt. so the question is, should i wait until then to purchase since there might be a better/improve series out or it doesn't make much different from now and middle of 2006, so just get it now?? ahh, i'm a confuse girl!!! [:X]

I would get it if you can afford it, especially if there is WIFI at your college, which would enable you to get out of the house and do homework/research anywhere around campus. But it depends what your priorities are.

It's a great machine, but yes, there will be better things in 2006, no doubt. The question I think you need to answer is will you get more done if you have this machine. That is, will you use it more often in more places to be more productive.

of course there will be better things in 2006 and also 2008 and also 2010...So do I wait for buying something to 2006 and beyond?

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I think I know my answer, the truth is, I really don't need it because I can get access all the time. I guess I just wanted to blind myself from that and also the fact that there will be better things in 2006, so I can purchase it. Gosh, I hate to forget about the Fujitsu.

Hey, do you think they will consider putting a webcam feature by two years?? haha. i think that would be a real winner, for out-of-town or travelers.

    Thanks guys.

Well, Sony just pulled that from their TR series, so I'd say the market doesn't want that.

For somewhere in the range of $30-100, one can purchase USB web cam and software that does just about anything you want!!

It may be convenient, but in many businesses and almost all government offices, you can't get in with a camera. That rules out the TR as a business machine in this case. Besides, the quality was not good, at least with USB you can upgrade. Oh, and wireless mini-cams will become more popular and cheaper as well.
