I just got my Fujitsu 5020D yesterday. I think it's great except for one thing: The dark screen while working off the battery. I got this computer because of the long battery life, and sacrificed a bit of screen size for portability and dimensions, but I didn't expect the screen to be so dark when unplugged. Is there any way of setting the computer so that the screen is a bit brighter while on battery? I know that the battery won't last as long this way, but I would gladly give up an hour of battery life for the sake of my eyes.

    Thanks in advance.

On my Fujitsu S6210 you press AND hold the Fn key (located three spaces left of keyboard) and then press F6 (to decrease brightness) and F7(to increase brightness). You can see on the F6 and F7 keys that it show a sun with arrow up and arrow down respectively.

Also, use F8 and F9 with the Fn key to turn the volume up and down.

This is my favorite complaint from new notebook owners. For some reason, I get a good chuckle each time! [ ;)]

Yep, Fn + F7 will up the brightness on battery. It should remember this setting next time you unplug.

Thanks for the replies. As I was reading them, I could kick myself for being so dumdadumdum... [ :)] I guess I was so WOWed by this little machine, and all it's compressed features, that I plum forgot the function keys. I was suffering from what is called the
    "new owner wow syndrome"

I'm still getting used to such a small screen. The keyboard half keys for the period/comma haven't been a problem (petite hands), but I started experimenting with the different settings within the programs themselves and set an 150% view within MS Word, which is comfortable for word processing. For browsing the web, IE doesn't have many options beyond "largest" for the text size, but I launched Netscape (which came loaded on this baby) and was able to set a percent view that was comfortable there too. Does anybody have a spare pair of 20/20 eyes to donate, I could sure use them.

Bottom line: I LOVE THIS LITTLE COMPUTER!

    Glad you like it.
Did you run the "Click Me" program?

want to hear something dumber. Somehow I pressed the numlock key and it took about 2 hours and 20 reboots before I finally figured out what had happened.

numblock on a laptop is about as useful as the PAUSE/Break key on any computer these days.

Reminds me of how I have spent weeks trying to get my wireless networking and vpn client working again, only to remember last night that XP has that system restore thing, which I used and fixed all the problems that have been plaguing me for almost a month!

I'm not sure what the "click me" program is. Well, I guess if I run it I'll find out [ :D]. I'll have to check and find it.
