I am in trouble with my new company laptop Fujitsu S6220, just got it 2 weeks ago and was happy play the centrino and manage to config it to work with my WI-FI at home. Then notice it came with a DVD cum CD-RW, so decide to try out the CD-RW to back up some files. I was not able to find any software in the Hdd for the RW purpose, so installed Nero/InCD into the system hopefully it worked.

Unforturnately, it don't work so uninstalled it from the laptop. Then come the trouble, not the laptop cannot recongnise the DVD/CD-RW drive. and it cannot play DVD/VCD/Audio CD anymore. I try to search for the driver for the DVD/CD-RW on the Fujitsu website, but the laptop still cannot recongnise the device.

Please anyone help me, I do not want to get into any trouble with this laptop. Our IT dept say I could had demage the laptop or the software, they had no idea what went wrong. They will have to report to my boss before sending the laptop back to the vendor for repair. I strongly think that I sould have deleted the driver when installing/Uninstalling the Nero/InCD software. I need a driver for this device urgent and hopefully fixed it B4 and other things happen. The IT dept just won't help by giving me the driver file from the vendor to test, just say that it will not work.

Awaiting any advice and possibly the right driver to solve this.

    Thank you.

I am not god, but god listen to my words.

I see no reason why your IT department would have to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. If they are a good IT department they would have a standard image for every machine they distribute to workers and they would just have to reimage a machine if users try to install software that affects the notebook performance or the operating system gets screwed up. Happens all the time, people are human and they try to install software on laptops/computers to get their work done and it ends up creating headaches. But that is what an IT department is for, to help resolve these issues. I wouldn't try much more other than explaining that you tried to install software to get some work done and back up your work files, and something went wrong. Ask if they can just reinstall the OS or reimage the machine.

Just be honest and open about what happened, I see no reason why you would get in trouble for this issue.
